It works OK, for what it is
OK, there is a story behind this. In short, we rarely used the Kawasaki drill my wife purchased several years ago, and the batteries just plain went the way of old bateries. Since I didn't want to spend the money to replace the whole drill, I bought a replacement battery. The second time I plugged it into the orginal charger, the charger just did not come on. it was DOA.Searching the Internet for a replacement charger, I learned that the original had been recalled - but it was now well past the time when I could take advantage of that recall. (Something about expoding batteries due to over-charging) Long story short, there were several charges available essentially the same as this one but none that were a direct replacement for the original. The substantial difference between this one and the original is that the original had the abiiity to turn itself off when the battery was finished charging... (or at least it seemed to - but apparently not really, and thus the aforementioned recall.) and this one provides a constant trickle charge and leaves the user with the responsibility to determine when the battery is done and needs to be taken off the charger. (I am guessing that was their way to CYA themselves in the wake of the recall.)Well, anyway the bottom line is that it does work but you should shop around for the best price. it does seem to run a little warm but so far that has not been a serious problem. And then of course there is that thing about judging when the battery is done.

It's complicated, but this charger is like the Energizer Bunny.
Kawasaki batteries are made with three possible contacts, one positive and two possible negatives. They appear to use the two side contacts with their own brand of tools, but the side positive contact and front contact on tools which they make for other brand names, such as Campbell-Hausfeld and Craftsman. These other brands seem to charge twice as much for replacement batteries as does Kawasaki for it's line of tools. As other commenters have said, you can use one of the other brand chargers to charge a Kawasaki brand battery by switching the negative contact from the front to the side. But if you still have some life in your old off-brand batteries, that means that you have to take the back off of the charger and switch it around every time you need to charge your new Kawasaki batteries. So, for me it was well worth it to buy this extra charger for about $16. to avoid all of that nuisance. I tested the power in my old batteries and the new ones. I was able to drill 24 3/8-inch holes in a 2X4 with one old battery and 44 holes with another. With the two new Kawasaki batteries, I drilled 150 holes and still had some power left. So, I use the new 19.2 V batteries in my 19.2 V Campbell-Hausfeld drill, and the two older and weaker Campbell-Hausfeld batteries in my older 18 V Craftsman drill.

I got juice!!!
This enexpensive charger allowed me to get usage out of some of my powertools that were sitting inop for quite some time due to theft of my charger. I'm not sure why I had not thought of looking on Amazon for this item a lot sooner than I did. Performed as anticipated.

Good Unit for a Good price.
This unit allowed me to keep my cordless drill working instead of having to buy an new one. A much better solution. It worked as it should and I am happy with it.

Good charger, does what it was designed to do.
Does a great job.I had the drill and battery, but needed the charger. When it arrived, I plugged it in and installed the battery (real easy to do), let it charge all that day (I just wanted to give it a full charge the for first time I'd use it), no problems.

Poor customer service
I have owned several Kawasaki 19.2 volt cordless power tools dating back to a purchase of a tool set several years ago.The batteries continue to be a problem. I have replaced them 3 times and they continue to failThe latest set of batteries and chargers I purchased from Amazon had an apology letter from the CEO of the manufacturer (Alltrade Tools) enclosed in the packaging.Unfortunately, the instructions are deficient and make no mention of potential damage by overcharging, proper method to maintain charged batteries, details of the charger corrections made after the recall, or any other useful information for the consumer.I called the help line number and the customer service rep was both uninformed and rude. The tools are actually very powerful and well designed, which is why I keep trying to resolve the battery problem. With a little effort to revise the instruction manual and provide true customer service, the company could easily retain loyal customers and prevent further dissatisfaction. This, in my opinion, would be much more effective than a statement of apology from the chief executive.
