A Wolf Town story...
Jorrie Spencer has created a very fascinating world---starting with various types of paranormal elements made believable, and adding more layers with each outing. Her world is populated by shifters--primarily wolf but also some cats as well as 'minders'--humans with psychic abilities to manipulate others. In this story she adds in a 'dream wraith', a human who can affect others while asleep, and in this case is tied to wolf shifters somehow. She writes interrelated characters in her series--both under the pen name of Jorrie Spencer (for more traditional male/female relationships) as well as the name Joely Skye (tend to be spicier and feature m/m relationships). The characters and the story lines have overlap but for the most part are stand alones (Anchor is one that benefits from having read the previous ones...coming in cold would be more confusing).Anchor is about 3450 Kindle locations (e-version only so far, so no page count). In a shorter format it is a lot more difficult to really show the characters and motivations and this is one book I think would have benefited by having more pages. I loved the updating and/or involvement of older characters--always a plus. I just wish it had all been longer so I could get just a better 'feel' for the main characters and have having the attraction develop a little more. Some of her stories are much higher on the angst scale, and this too would have been fun to see more of for these characters. For new readers looking to start with her stories (which I do recommend) I would not suggest starting here. I would recommend also reading the Joely Skye stories as well as the integrated whole makes for a better experience. Start with The Strength of the Pack: a Northern Shifters novel and/or Monster . (Eventually the two series have converging characters). Also, pay attention to the publisher's descriptions--some of the books are quite graphic which may or may not appeal to some readers. This one has one 'scene' and is pretty straightforward. In any case, I am a fan of this series and would not miss this title--very much enjoyed it!JTG

I bought this book
I don't buy books anymore. There's so much free material to read that you don't really need to purchase them. This one caught my eye though so I thought I'd give it a try. I wish I hadn't. For the price the book was too short and lacked character development. It felt rushed in spots. There was no romance build up in my opinion. The alpha qualities one would come to expect from a shifter were lacking. The fight scene? Almost nonexistent. It never felt like the characters were in danger. Except! For the first look chapter that originally got me interested in the purchase of the book. Good job on that one. The first chapter went into very good detail about the main characters abilities while she was in the fight scene. That is the only reason I read this book. Her abilities reminded me of a Sherrilyn Kenyon Dream Hunter novel. What irritated me was that it was all very anticlimactic. When she finally took down the target it was from the eyes of the alpha. The writer didn't take us back inside Mala as she was completing her first ki**(word hidden because of sensitivity filter). She never described the feelings of Mala. I was curious about how it felt when she finally figured out how to connect with a specific person. None of that had any great detail. The only detail that got worked over each time was that Mala was exhausted after she used her abilities. So the book was just ok for me.

Great book
Mala has had realistic dreams nearly all her life of violence. It's destroyed her life and made keeping a job nearly impossible. She dreams of people in trouble, and has learned to manipulate the dream in order to protect them. She's always thought they were just dreams, until one day she sees something that tells her they may be real. Driven to find the truth, she goes to wolf town to find the boy she helped in her dreams, and maybe find that is wasn't just a dream after all. The characters are well written and I found myself hoping that Mala could find herself and get stronger, after the way her life has gone so far. Angus is a wonderful hero, strong but not willing to give up all his common sense once he meets his mate Mala. What I particularly liked about this story was that Mala didn't immediately get strong and able to fight everything on her own, it all wasn't solved overnight, and people didn't believe her at first. That seemed more real to me than some stories that makes it appear that overnight the heroine or hero gets vindication. I enjoyed reading this story and when other stories from this series comes out, I'll be sure to pick it up.

Unique shifter story
On instinct, Mala instructs a young wolf to run through her dreams, forming a link that she returns to again to make sure he is safe. Mala has lived her life rejected by the abnormal dreams that have her protecting wolfs from harm. When she sees something in one of her dreams that leads her to WolfTown, she follows the hunch that there maybe more to her dreams than just the terror that keep her immobile.Angus MacIntyre is the alpha of WolfTown, although it is not necessarily a title he needs, his only goal is to protect the wolves that seek protection in his town. When Mala arrives asking for one of his newest rescues, he feels drawn to her but cautious about her intent. What follows unravels a mystery as to what Mala truly is and a possible mate for Angus.Refreshing take on the shifter stories, I had not read anything about Dream Wraiths before and was fascinated. I thought the story unfolded perfectly and am anxious to read another book by this author.

Excellent Read
Anchor deliver's on a great and enjoyable plot line with excellent characters and the chemistry between Angus and Male is beautifully done! This book is about wolf shifters which Angus is the Alpha of wolf town. The people of wolf town don't like new comers or visitor's to the town. Eden is the owner and manager of the B&B where Mala goes to stay while in town. Mala goes to wolf town following her dreams that has been having all her life to see if her dreams are real. Because of the dreams she has become estranged from her family and she has no friends. The only disappointing thing is that this is not a series. This was an enjoyable and entertaining read I would highly recommend this book to others.

Enjoyable
Anchor deliver's on an interesting plot line and excellent characters (thankfully none of this anoying damsel-gets-herself-into-distress-despite-susposedly-being-very-clever) and the romance between the two leads is wonderfully done! I fell a little in love with the Angus myself, helped by the fact he seemed so realistic. The presentation of the wolf pack is (though not completely orginal) well done and I especially liked getting to know the pack more (Spencer sure has the ability to create interesting characters).Anchor looses one star for the anti-climatic (no pun intended) sex scene, though on its own it was acceptable enough, if you compare it to the well-written chemisty and tension between the two protagonists it sadly didn't fulfill the promise.I considered taking another star for the brevity of the story, but considering that just goes to show I wanted to read more of Mala and Angus it seemed unfair! (NB: For the price of the book you get a decent length story). In summary: A good read, (especially for the price) and hopefully Jorrie Spencer will improve on the sex and keep going strong on the romance and paranormal elements.

It was ok
Not great but not bad. A good length, wouldn't really call it a romance more a paranormal suspense. Not a bad storyline but not something I would bother to read again.
