This book is really heart touching historic thriller, a great deal of scientific events happened during ancient times were explained beautifully by the author. I am very thankful to the author for this valuable gift, and this book is must read one.

I am across this book while reading about sea routes and ancient trade routes. Reading this book to fun and to realize how easy our life is due to painstaking research by the great scientist, astronomers, and polymaths during their time.This book is highly recommended for reading.

Quite surprised by the size of the book but informative and good read!

Thanks to Dava Sobel for bringing out the facts related to scientific problem of locating longitude. This is not a story about Mr.Harrison, but a pursuit of entire community to search a truth which caused untold sufferings to human beings. The story is inspiring especially the struggle undertaken by Mr.Harrison to prove his discovery.This book is highly recommended for reading.Also it will not take more than 3 hours to complete it.Reading this book takes you back to 18th century when problems faced were different than what we face today. Today we have taken for granted many things and this book will open our eyes.Good work and recommend all earnest seekers of leaving behind their foot mark in the sands of time to read this book.

I had come across this book after getting idea of a vague connection between astronomy & longitude in a book. This story of the remarkably talented watchmaker, no less than an engineer, & his dedication towards carfting a perfect timepiece thrilled me & introduced me to an important part of history not talked about often.

It is a beautiful narration of time when it was hard to discover position at sea for sailors. I could feel the need of navigation locator, and valued the discovery as I turned the pages. Loved it.
