Adds ability to check temperature from anywhere on my iPhone with free app and cloud service.
I had purchased Inkbird's 2nd generation pool temperature sensor and receiver and really liked the quality and features (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B09578DXK4/). It performed better than any other similar floating pool thermometer I've owned. The range and accuracy was great. The only thing I wished it had was a way to see the pool temperature on my iPhone. A couple of weeks later though, I discovered that Inkbird offered this product, a Wifi Gateway.I was thrilled that there actually already was the possibility to view the current temperature from the sensor on my iPhone using the gateway in conjunction with their free Inkbird Pro app. Not only could I view the current temperature, but it did even more than that! I am now able to also view the temperature even when I'm not home through their free cloud service. I can also see past temperatures in both a graphical chart, and a list of the temperature data. This is very cool because I am a data/stat nerd. I love seeing how the temperature changes throughout the day and how my pool solar panels are performing. You can see a chart by the day , week, or month. I will attach some screenshots of the app.Setup was very simple, I just plugged it in and connected it to my wifi and it would find the sensor. I did need to locate the gateway somewhere within range of the pool sensor, but this was not a problem because the signal from the sensor is quite strong. You can set alarms in the app, so it will notify you when the temperature reaches an upper or lower limit you set, or both. This is very useful for me to know when the spa has reached the desired temperature from in the house. The gateway also shows the remaining battery life in the sensor.Like the pool sensor itself, I have found the gateway to be very reliable and I highly recommend it to anyone purchasing their sensors. I love that there are no additional fees or subscriptions for the app or the cloud service once you've purchased the gateway. The possibility of adding this internet functionality was a real bonus for me that I didn't know about when I purchased just the sensor and receiver display. By the way, the pool sensor still transmits the temperature to the display in the house as well. So it will work with both simultaneously . Unfortunately, even with the gateway, this sensor doesn't currently work with Alexa to get the readings, hopefully they can add that functionality in the future. I really love seeing the temperature of the pool from anywhere!

Not very dependable or trustworthy
I bought this unit to monitor the temperature and humidity of my aquarium. It works or is accurate maybe 10% of the time. Continuously give false alarms based the setting you assign. Spoke with Tech support and they recommended to change my settings to something that if my tank temperature fell to the degrees they recommended my fish would not survive. I do not recommend this unit.

Effective and simple solution
IBS-M1 review. This is a solid and simple solution to making Inkbird Bluetooth sensors WiFi-enabled. I found setup relatively easy and was surprised by the sensitivity of the Bluetooth receiver. I live in a 4000 SF home. I placed this unit in several locations on the middle floor of the house and it had little trouble connecting to an IBS-TH2, which was inside a commercial stainless steel refrigerator located in my attached garage. Impressive. That said, I have occasionally received notifications that the connection had been lost. My impression is that the Bluetooth sensitivity of this device is better than my Pixel 3a phone, so range is generally better. My Pixel 3a could not connect to the sensor in several of the locations where I tested the IBS-M1.This IBS-M1 has solved the key issues I had with the IBS-TH2 temperature sensor. Since the IBS-TH2 sensor is natively Bluetooth-only, it communicated with my phone only when it was in range. Also, the Engbird app used by the IBS-TH2 had low and high temperature alarms, but they worked only when you specifically opened the app, which is relatively useless. Not so with the IBS-M1 app, which will sound alarms and raise notifications anytime. One little bug I ran into with the IBS-M1 app on Android was that on a couple of occasions, it seemed to switch one its own from Fahrenheit to Celsius, and the alarm settings were far from what I had set. It may have been that while the display settings were changed from F to C, the high-low temperature settings might not have been converted. I didn't pay close enough attention to the new values to confirm that guess. Anyway, I sent a note to Inkbird and although I didn't see a reply from them, I haven't encountered the error again since contacting them a several weeks ago, so I'm guessing that the issue has been fixed. One other small annoyance with these Inkbird products is the lack of a single app to manage the devices. My temperature controllers use the InkbirdSmart app. The Bluetooth sensors use the Engbird app. The IBS-M1 uses yet another -- the IBS-M1 app. Hopefully, Inkbird will streamline this situation someday. There is what appears to be an attempt at consolidating these apps in a single dashboard, but it seems to still require the other apps to be installed.

Pretty stable, easy setup. App needs work tho!
Inkbird is generally recognized as a great company for temp sensors and similar things. Their grilling products are really nice, and generally very durable. This M1 receiver is pretty easy to set up and use, and seems to be working well covering several sensors outdoors around my pool. The apps however (Inkbird and inkbird PRO) , are incredibly immature, lacks a huge list of features, many of which are basic, and really just has a bad design and user interface. You should DEFINITELY use the "INKBIRD PRO" app, not the standard one. But don't expect much functionality, all it's good for is monitoring the sensors and setting some extremely limited alert thresholds.

Great addition
This gateway is a perfect addition to my grow room, I am able to make all my Bluetooth accessories accessible on my phone where ever I am. The setup is a bit tricky but once you’ve got it setup on wifi it’s pretty easy to use and to add more devices. I’ve been wanting one for quiet some time and finally pulled the plug and bought one and it was well worth it.
