Great, until my toddler broke it
I really liked this timer and so did my 3.5 year old toddler. It helped me implement and enforce a 30 minute quiet time every day (this is a kid who refuses to nap or spend any time alone). We had it a few weeks and it worked great but then I guess he was playing with it and the inside mechanism broke so it doesn’t work anymore, and I can’t figure out how to get inside it to try to fix it. I thought, oh well maybe we don’t need a visual timer anymore for quiet. Turns out yes we do, quiet time has been harder to enforce the last few days but I’m going to shop the market for maybe a different model that won’t be so easy to break. I did love this one, and I liked that it didn’t require batteries, but lost one star because it’s not very durable.

Effective
At first, I read all the other reviews about the ticking and thought, oh heck no. Thankfully, before moving on to something else I read a review that had a positive opinion of the ticking. I have ADHD and no sense of time and I got this timer for staying on task. I've used timers on my phone before, but the problem with silent timers is, somewhere during the 15 or whatever minutes I'm supposed to be staying on task, I forget I'm even in a task lol. The ticking of this timer reminds me I'm supposed to be working on something and have a limited time to do it. I stay focused and work faster/ more efficiently, too, because it becomes kind of like a race/game. :) I suppose the sound might be distracting if i was using it for work to write a paper or something, but I'm using it for chores, etc. and general time management. An added bonus, we go through so many batteries in this house already, it's nice to have something that doesn't need batteries!!! So the price you're paying for the timer is the real price, and you don't have to consider additional future cost of batteries to operate it.

Works great, is a little loud
This timer looks great and feels sturdy. It is large enough to see from across the room. The ticking noise is louder than I expected. I am not someone who is normally too sensitive to those types of things, but this is a little nerve wracking. However, I bought this to help my kids with transitioning so I think if they are playing or I have music on, it will be drowned out. The cost is a little more than I expected to pay when I began searching (paid $18, I expected $10-12) but it was average price. Overall, I am happy with it!

Great product, but can't turn it off without the alarm ringing
This has been a VERY useful product to make our child aware of the time diminishing toward bedtime, and our commitment to turn lights out when time runs out. I can see how it would be useful in all kinds of circumstances to visualize time counting down. My one complaint is that it's impossible to cancel the timer without having it make its alarm noise. This has been a problem for us on the rare occasion that my child fall asleep before bedtime -- I can't just quietly turn the timer to zero, because when it gets to zero it will loudly ring and clang. I have to take the whole thing downstairs so he won't hear it, or try to muffle it in a pillow, etc. Otherwise -- fantastic product, esp. with kids who can't read clocks.

Overall great visual timer!!
I do really like this timer and only have two minor issues with it. I purchased this timer to mostly use for homeschool with my kids, but have ended up using it way more often than expected.Positives: Here's what we like: 1) My kids really like the visual aspect so they know how much more time is left for each activity. 2) My kids (5 and 7) can also easily set it themselves by turning the dial. They have actually started using it themselves to take turns with toys which is awesome for me to not have to get involved! 3) It has a strong magnet on the back, a table stand and a hole to hang it on a hook. 4) It is a very good size and can be seen easily from across the room.Negatives: I have only two minor issues with this timer. 1) The ticking sound is a little too loud for me. It may not be an issue for most people, but when I'm trying to teach a lesson to my kids it can be distracting (my kids don't complain about it though). 2) If you want to set it for a time less than 5 minutes it doesn't ring. Again, not a huge issue, but worth mentioning.Overall a great visual timer and I would purchase again despite the negatives!

Common problem, it seems.
It just stopped ringing after the time runs out.I'm not the only person with this problem.I thought - "ah they probably just got a shoddy one. It'll be alright."But no. Seems to be a mass production error? No clue. Maybe there is some shoddy ones and good ones?Nice big face. I love the idea of these timers in terms of the visual element.Shame it breaks after 7 - 10 uses.

great product!
I've only had it a few days but noticed a huge difference. If it weren't for the ticking sound I would give it five stars. I knew about it when I bought it and it doesn't bother the kids however. I prefer it over having to replace batteries.Pros:- great value. I paid the same price as 3" models and much less than 10" models. This size I think is perfect- I love that it has a strong magnet, stand and hole for wall hanging at back.- no batteriesCons:- have to remember to wind it first. Not sure why this is required (have to turn to 55 min then set time) but I always do it- ticking noise a little louder than I expected

Unexpectedly useful clock
I read about this clock being helpful for time awareness. Thought I would give it a try and wow! I used to not notice how time would pass, but now it's almost like time is a physical thing for me. You'd think this was for kids but I can't believe how much this has helped me as an adult. Thanks Secura!

Great family timer
We keep this on our fridge to help our boys know how much time is left before we need to leave the house for school. It's been great for other activities like TV and reading and even just general concepts of time. My kids have beat on quite a bit and it still works - a couple times I wasn't sure if it was going to survive but to my surprise it really has.

Easy to use
Works as a roughly accurate timer.Only issue might be that you can't set it to e.g. exactly 3 minutes. It's just a free running dial without any feedback of the exact time points or exact time left.
