Skip HopSkip Hop Toddler Backpack, Zoo Preschool Ages 3-4, Monkey

This backpack is perfect to send with my 2 year old son to daycare. It holds his spare change of clothes and any papers that need to come home with him. He loves the monkey design and I think it is cute too. I would buy this again.

Unfortunately, I didn't really look at the measurements when shopping for this. I was too consumed with its great price and its total cuteness! When it arrived, my son and I were so excited to put his one single red folder in it that he needs to bring to and from school (Kindergarten class). It didn't fit! The backpack was a little too short and the upper corners of the folder would have had to be folded over in order to make it fit so it could be zippered shut. Well I didn't want to do that. So, luckily I have a younger son who could use it for bringing his things to and from Grandma's house, car trips, etc. So we were able to keep it and get some use out of it after all! It would have killed me to have to return it. Like I said, it is super cute, perfect for either a boy or girl, it is really well made and durable, and aside from being just a little too small height-wise to hold a standard size folder, it is roomy enough to carry a change of clothes, along with a few books, a few small toys, and even some snacks for that extra-long car trip or an overnight stay at Grandma's house. You will not be disappointed!

My 2 year old son squealed in delight when he saw the "monkey bag" on the table after I opened it. He couldn't wait to put it on. We have a few plane rides coming up and thought this may be a good way for him to carry a few of his own toys. He woke up the next morning asking for his "monkey bag."It is a bit small, but I was aware of that from the listed dimensions and the previous reviews, but knew it would be the right size for what I need. However, I wasn't planning on putting folders in there, just a few toys, snacks and some crayons/coloring book. It's the perfect size for him. It honestly holds just enough stuff, otherwise he'd probably fall over carrying it! He loves that the zipper pulls are bananas, and loves carrying it around. It really made the first of the flights we'll be taking easier and helped him to focus on the bag and not running off without me.Right now, we're saving it for these special trips, to keep it new and fun, but afterwards, I imagine that I'll have him use this to carry things to and from daycare, and trips to friends houses and the playground.It's really really cute and the materials seem very durable at the moment. I think it's a great buy!

Update! 3 Years Later:He still has the backpack and it is still works great! The zippers are still good and there are no tears or rips. He is now five and it’s his to go out backpack. He does not use it for school but he still likes it. The second set of pictures are how he looks like now and how the backpack looks after 3 years of use. I strongly recommend it!Previous reviewBought this backpack for my little brother who is 2 years old and he loves it. At first he didn't like it too much, but that's just how he is. Now he loves it and i like how its big but not too big for him. The space inside its great and i love that he is able to put his water cup on the side. Its a good quality backpack. It was a good purchased most likely i will buy him a new one (different animal bag) when he starts school soon. He loves it and i love it and any kid will love it too!

Very cute! Flamingos are her favorite so we had to get it! She is using it for pre school, it does not fit a school folder without bending it. That’s why I only gave it four stars. Just a little bit bigger please skip hop.

I purchased this to replace my son's (and daughter's) shared diaper bag and for him to use at daycare. He LOVES it and always puts it on when we go out. He has no issue zipping it up and getting what he needs and it's extremely lightweight. He always loads up his favorite toys before we go out and there is still good amount of room for spare outfit, wipes, and snacks.You cannot go wrong with this, it's adorable. Wish it wasn't made in china and wish we could throw it in the wash machine but it's not that much of an issue. They do feel like good quality construction though. The little zipper pocket has a mesh-net inner pocket that is a good feature. A buckle across the chest at the straps would be a helpful addition for younger kids who have trouble keeping it on their shoulders. I've bought him about 4 of the skip hop zoo straw bottles and they obviously fit in the bags mesh bottle pouch perfectly. I recommend most of the skip hop zoo products.

After seeing the line from Skip Hop of these backpacks in a Parenting magazine I knew my little Preschooler would love to have one of his own. His first year at PS he had a Cars backpack that everyother little kid in his class had and I wanted him to be a little different. And that he was! I gave him the options of all the animal choices and he chose the monkey. His teachers, the other parents and the other kids all kept asking where we found this cute bag. This bag goes everywhere with him as he's not a 'normal' Preschooler- he rides the bus to school 4 days a week and then to daycare and it carries a lot of important things from his change of clothes to his school artwork to his hearing aids/supplies. This backpack is so cute I'm going to have a hard time saying good bye to it when he goes to Kindergarten next year since he can't use it again (the shame, lol!) and I can't quite decide if it's too babyish for the big K!? If not...we're going for the fox or the dog next, I think!
