Wonderfully Delicious Scrumptious Big Fluffy Mushroom Popcorn 🍿
This popcorn is pricey but totally legit. Great taste. The popcorn pops up huge and fluffy. Not all kernels pop into that desired mushroom shape but most do. A batch is devoured so quickly, no one even notices. I pop 1/2 cup at a time in my stove top Whirley Pop on medium-high heat an only get about 1 to 8 un-popped kernels per batch. I think the higher temp helps to fully pop and achieve the mushroom shape. The kernels are great quality. I've made like 15 batches so far and have only seen 1 kernel that was cracked and I threw out. Tastes great and fresh. My first purchase was a 32 oz./2lbs. It was gone within 10 days and I had to come back to order this 8lbs. bag, which is a way better value by the way. This popcorn is perfect for making our homemade kettle corn! I think it's worth the price. Nom nom nom nom nom. Five stars, two thumbs up, and recommend!

Disappointing
Large pieces of popcorn, yes. All other claims, not so much. Have a 20 oz Great Northern tabletop popcorn machine that has served us well for years. Usually use either Orville's or Great Northern kernels, along with coconut oil and a mixture of Flavacol and Snappy butter flavor salts. Really wanted something that had no hulls, getting tired of chewing on them and having them get stuck between the teeth and in the throat. Saw this Princeton one and gave it a try. Pretty much a waste of money, in my opinion. Used about a quarter cup of kernels, half cup of oil, and a tablespoon of salt. Preheated the oil and threw in the kernels and salt. Between half and three quarters of the kernels popped, a lot of unpopped left behind. Not happy, but if there were no hulls I could live with it. Nope, hulls all around. Maybe less than Orville's and Great Northern brand, but not much. Definitely not enough to justify the price. If you are looking for big pieces of popcorn at a big price, go for it. I won't be getting any more.

Lovely Popcorn!
Absolutely my favorite popcorn to use! Pops greats and the flavor of the popcorn is amazing. Love how big they pop up to. Definitely worth it. Y'all won't be disappointed if y'all are popcorn people like myself. I sometimes forget to eat supper because I had a late snack of popcorn.

Disappointed
This popcorn was slow to start popping, did so hesitatingly once started and left a ton of unpopped kernels in the pot. Trying to leave it longer to pop more resulted in it burning it so pop had to be dumped in the bowl with a quarter left unpopped at the bottom. I tried doing multiple ways, adjusting the heat, amount of corn, more coconut oil, all with the same results. There were a ton of husks at the center of the popcorn and the popcorn was tough without much flavor. I couldn't find an expiration date on the container to verify if freshness was the issue. I've tried multiple gourmet popcorn kernels in the last month and am still left wanting. The popped corn was bigger, but that's about it.

Review are wildly subjective...
I was looking for a mushroom popcorn to use in homemade 'Moose Munch' and took a chance on Princeton Popcorn brand. Pros: tastes great plain, most of the kernels popped up as mushroom, very few unpopped kernels remained, worked well for 'Moose Munch' caramel coating, non-GMO (for those worried about genetically modified foods) Cons: cost is over the top, packaging is plastic, product is not grown organically. Comments: I saw that one commenter had a live bug in a sealed container and others had pieces of debris. While no one likes to see live bugs or debris in their food, a reasonable person understands that any unprocessed plant-based food is prone to this. I was actually happy to see this 'live bug' in a sealed container. Made me think that maybe pesticides are used with a light hand? While product is really pricey, no one forced me to buy it and I was happy to support a US based farm. Mushroom popcorn pops up large and so even though the purchased container was small, I will get MANY large batches of 'Moose Munch out of it, and probably a bad case of type 2 diabetes. I would have preferred a more biofriendly container, but at least there was no empty space to give the appearance of more product than you are actually getting. I recently purchased a container of anti-perspirant that has about 1-inch of actual product and 2-inches of empty plastic. Come on Procter & Gamble! Gluten-free is a moot point and not special to Princeton Popcorn. All plain popcorn is Gluten-free. Get your dental floss ready, 'cause this popcorn is loaded with husks. This is to be expected with any large kernel popcorn. Think of it as more fiber in your diet. Fresh vs. stale, hmmm. A freshly popped batch tasted great and that's before the caramel, chocolate, and nuts were added! Mushroom popcorn is NOT a tender popcorn because of it's size and density which makes it perfect for heavy coatings like caramel. People may be unfairly thinking that it is stale when it is not. That tough chew and nutty taste is characteristic of the variety. If you want a tender 'fresh' tasting popcorn, stick to the smaller hull-less varieties. Princeton Popcorn, All plain popcorn is gluten-free, so stop making it sound like yours is special. And 'Farm Grown'? Vs what, your backyard? I used a reliable hot-air popper and highly recommend heating it up for a good 2-3 minutes before adding the kernels. I added a little less than a half cup per batch and it was perfect with absolutely no burnt kernels. PP, Please print a weight on your product label. Ultimately, I would probably purchase this product again, but I think my 32 ounce container will last awhile.

Theater priced corn
I didn’t notice anything special about this expensive popcorn. I basically ordered by price and when I got my tiny little tub of corn I was shocked that it was almost $20. The “mushroom” popcorn was maybe 30% of the batch of popped corn and most definitely not hulless. I make caramel corn as gifts at Christmas and we eat a lot of popcorn too and this product is too expensive to consume regularly. It doesn’t taste or perform any better than store bought and we will not repurchase.

This is the most flavorful popcorn with almost no unpopped kernels.
First off, this popcorn comes in a huge bag. I didn't appreciate how much 8lbs is until I got this in the mail. It comes in a resealable bag however, so I don't have to worry about it going stale. After cooking this popcorn I'm seriously impressed with the quality. Practically every kernel pops up fluffy and big. As you can see in the pictures the vast majority of the bowl looks like the kernels I took pictures of. The thing that impressed me the most though was the fact that all but one popcorn kernel popped. Talk about getting your money's worth. The next thing I noticed, is that all the conversation on the bag singing the praises of their popcorn wasn't just a bunch of "hot air" . The popcorn really does taste better than any other popcorn I've tried thus far. I had no idea popcorn could taste differently than...,well, popcorn. This popcorn has a full flavor and is so fresh. I'm greatly impressed and will be buying this brand from now on. A little note on cooking (they also have a website for assistance): Put your oil in the pan first, and then throw in three or four kernels. Turn on the heat, and wait for the kernels in the pot to pop. Once they do, add the rest of the popcorn that you're cooking and immediately put on the lid. When the popping stops, or slows significantly, it's done. Add your toppings and enjoy.
