The raw, blue-eyed soul singing of a teenage Steve Winwood made them one of the more memorable British Invasion groups of the Sixties. Here's 15 of their best tunes, including all their big hits.

All the songs are really good...
I'm forever a fan of the 60's and 70's music being a baby boomer and growing up around it. My brother was wanting to find a particular hit song that this group made and this recording has it. Although I bought this for the big hits they put out in the 60's, I found that the rest of the music on here is also very good. I play this one frequently when I want to groove to those memorable (and in my book, never duplicated) sounds I grew up with and enjoyed so much. They just don't make music like this again. Turbulent times from this era but some really good music to cherish a lifetime.

I've always liked "Gimme Some Lovin'"
I'm old enough to have been around when the Spencer Davis Group was just that. A group. I've always liked "Gimme Some Lovin'", and "I'm A Man". But, the reason I bought this CD is because of "Keep on Runnin' ". It has that driving guitar riff and beat that's great to listen to while you're driving down that long, lonesome highway. I never hear it on the radio anymore. But, the song reminds me of my fun-filled youth. I have listened to all of the other songs on this CD more than once. But, they just don't do much for me. Hence, the 3-star rating.

Early Stevie's best! And...worst.
I followed Stevie Winwood through much of his career as I went through mine. His was much more exciting as a rock star (and a member of Blind Faith!!!) than mine as just a rock freak. I loved his early work with Spencer Davis and remember buying 45 rpm records. This CD has those hit tunes, but the rest of the album is largely "old filler." Not real entertaining. But Amazon's price was good, and I'll take what I "need" from the CD. Sorry Stevie. This was a long time ago!

spencer davis-best of...
when the beatles and stones went out to clubs in the early 60's,groups like spencer davis, the zombies, the hollies would wbe performing. and with the spencer davis group, these are the tunes they would be playing. this is british-styled blues. teve winwood shines as lead vocalist in front of a heavy rhythm section-one of the best in it's day. the music still holds power today, very contemporary and not at all out-dated. the spencer davis group has left a stamp of influence on some of todays artists-though they may not know it. give it a listen and decide for yourself. I'M A MAN says it all. be prepared to get your panties wet

Great Bluesy Tunes!
Wow...what a treasure to find! This albums rocks. If you listen to the soulful songs then look up a vid on youtube, you will be blown away that the singer doesn't look like the traditional southern blues man his voice brings to mind!I loved every tune on this album. The Spencer Davis Group was before my time, but I sure am glad I found them now.

It Rocks!
Just what I wanted! It has all the hits! My favorite “I’M A MAN” is one of the best 60’s hits.

Memories
I remember this music from my High School days when we use to have dances in the Boys Gym. Man! Those were the days. When I heard, "Give me Some Lovin" on the radio, it sure took me back to those old school days. Now I can listen to it and Crank it up when I want. I LOVE MUSIC
