Staedtler Mars GmbH & Co. 899SM5 Calligraphy Pens Set,Interchangeable Nibs,5/ST,Assorted

I am intermediate when it comes to calligraphy, and this set was not as expected. I had to clean out the entire set, as it was poorly cleaned and the ink was dry on the inside. Several of the "new" cartridges were opened and used, so they were unable to be used, as they were dried out. Other than all the complications, I think the "fine" nib was my favourite and it wrote nice and easy (when the ink flowed, which was for a small amount of time. Maybe 3 words it flowed for?).If you are new to calligraphy, THIS IS NOT THE SET TO GO. The nibs get gunked up easily with paper, and somehow, even parchment! The flow is NOT good at all. I keep on having to run them under water to get the ink to flow properly.If you're going to get a calligraphy pen, get a Noodler's Flex Pen first. You won't be disappointed as much as I was with this set.

Aside from the broken ink cartridges that were leaked all over the inside of the package, these are pretty cool calligraphy set. I have to give it one star though because it arrived "broken" it was a gift so, that was embarrassing. We'll, my kid overlooked it and still went on to use the set so I never got it back to try and get a return.

Three of the ink cartidges leaked and spread onto the cloth container. I think if the container is stored upright the ink may not leak. It was disappointing to see three colors were wasted.

Actually got these for my step daughter . Like most kids she plays with them rarely. They are a great set I might wait a year or two and ask to "barrow" them.

I like this set just fine. I bought it years ago, liked it and bought another one as a gift for an artist friend. It was a lot less when I did purchase it, but time flies, and it's still a good way to start to learn the fun of Calligraphy.

I am new to calligraphy, but not to fountain pens. I think this a nice set for beginners. It's obviously not the highest quality, but it's good enough that you can get nice results. The ink included isn't my favorite, and some of the cartridges honestly just didn't run at all. But that was easy enough to fix with a converter and some ink of my own. It certainly wasn't a big problem for me, anyway.
