Mcoplus EXT-Z-M 12mm 20mm Automatic Extension Tube For Nikon Z Mount Mirrorless Camera

Brilliant but limited - Amended
I’m giving this a 5-star rating because it would be unfair to give it anything less. The rings are well made, lightweight, fit perfectly and match the Z-series beautifully. However, there are some caveats, especially in my case. First, I’m relatively new to photography and I’ve never used extension tubes before. So, I naively assumed they just added focal length to the lens. I now know that they don’t and only focus (manual or auto) at macro distances – about 12-18” away from the subject and if you are using a zoom, at the maximum focal length of the lens. There is no focus at all (just a blur) outside of this range. I usually shoot bugs, insects, flowers, etc and with my previous Nikon 750 and Sigma 105 macro, I could flip a switch on the barrel and change the focus range if I didn’t want to scare away my target. I generally only use autofocus to get within a rough range and then move myself slightly to really nail the focus (and then burst shoot to make sure). However, now as I can’t see anything but blur until I get to within 12-18” I’ve no idea how I can use the tubes and get so close to my subjects, especially if they are moving. Also, my 24-70 f4 focuses from this distance and because it’s not losing a couple of stops of light, I can get better depth of field and faster shutter speeds. In my case this important as I usually shoot hand-held. I did a few hand-held test shots with and without the tubes and once cropped, the 24-70 on its own performed better. That said, on a tripod with plenty of light and a fixed subject, they work brilliantly. I’ve not tried the focus shift (focus stacking) on the Z6 so I can’t offer any advice on that.I think that if you put these tubes on the super-sharp Z 85mm F1.8 you will get spectacular results (especially with a tripod). As I mentioned earlier, I’m only an enthusiastic amateur and maybe more experienced photographers have the knowledge to overcome the problems I had with them. I cannot fault the build quality and value for money.Amended: The 11mm ring can focus from about 24" from the focal plane of the camera, which allows me to move in closer to my subject if necessary. From its closest range of about 8" (focal plane) I get about a 1:2 magnification with the 11mm and easily 1:1 with the others. They also work with focus shift as well. According to some research online about ext rings and magnification, the Z85mm won't give better than about 1:4 as its closest focus is 0.8m, so even with all the rings attached it's still not very close. However, the same research suggests the Z50mm is the probably the best prime to use with these rings Just bought a sigma 105mm macro as I like the lens anyway but now I can keep the 11mm ring in my bag and always have a handy little macro attachment without carrying the 105 around.Still 5 stars..

Still experimenting - It ony arrived yesterday
I have a Nikon Z6 an am frustrated about the lack of software update for my Tamron 90mm f.2.8 macro lens. When the software becomes available I will still need to use the FTZ adaptor - this is heavy and clunky to use outdoors and hand held. When I saw this product dedicated to the Z system and F mount lens for the price it was worth a try."I does what is says on the box" -Auto focus and Peaking using back button and manual focus all work -Hand holding with the 24-70mm f4 kit lens, is easy. There is minimal additional weight in the extension tubes and no requirement for the heavy FTZ adaptor. So far I am very happy - going to try more situations, using the tripod and different tubes, in the next few days.

Looked good until I tried to fit.
Not sure if they are all like the ones I received but the small pin on the tubes that hold and lock your lens on didn’t line up with the small hole on the lens so the second you touch your lens it turns and will fall off, it was the same on both tubes other than that they worked well as expected but not going to risk a lens falling off every time they are used so will be returning for a refund.

Outstanding performance at this price point.
I can’t fault this product at £39 same day delivery.Used with a Nikon z6 and a 50mm f1.8 lens.Auto focus is ok but when doing macro manual focus is always better.Gives about 100mm working distance.Would absolutely recommend.Anyone struggling with this extension set needs to learn their camera and technique.

Works perfectly with Nikon Z6 II and Z lenses
Adding this to my existing collection gives me Macro lenses of all sorts. I have a Z6 II and I've used Z S lenses so far with great success. All camera and lens functions work perfectly.

It works well.
It works very well on my NIKON Z50. Focus is a bit tricky, but once you get the trick it works. No problems so far. I used it for 200-300 shots. Will see how it will handle over time. Definitely worth for the price range.
