Fiskars 385081-1002 18" Clearing Hatchet with Nylon Carrying Sheath

I like that it has a Friskers' warranty. This thing looks like a sick weapon, but I think it'll do the job in the spring to rip up some brush and other undergrowth. I tried it out on some logs and was able to sink it into the outer surface of the log and make it stick. Can it chop wood? Yes, it probably can, but not as well and as fast as a real ax. Comes with a nice cover. It'll come in handy for those tough weeds and brambles in the yard.

I love this thing. Let me start by saying that when I bought it, it was about as sharp as a butter knife. I almost took it back to the store, but decided to see if I could get it good and sharp. The answer is yes. I got it good and sharp with a file. I use it to cut thick Euonymous vines that are strangling the trees near me. I routinely cut through 2" vines with one whack. 3" vines take a few whacks. One great feature: the blade never gets stuck in the wood. I guess because it's so thin. But it is surprisingly strong. Great tool!

Quality product for home garden use. If you use it on dry limbs the blade will chip. I used it to chop dry limbs off spruce trees and blade broke in first week. It will work great for light duty on green plants. I do not recommend this product for heavy duty usage.

Used this for cutting heads of broccoli and cabbage on scale. Excellent tool. 45 bucks at Grainger.
