Just love them!
I have used them to set up a 35m slackline! Easy with it, as a walk in a park!

Excellent quality, exactly what I needed for a fair price
I bought this and 2 GM Climbing micro pulleys. I am not using them for climbing, I purchased them to use to create a mechanical advantage for the winch on my ATV and other applications. I understand that it is not designed for this and will of course take necessary precautions. I have some snatch blocks for my synthetic winch rope, but they will not fit more than 1/4" rope, and the winch rope is only 50'. I have an old 150' rappelling rope that is in excellent condition, although I don't think that rappelling with it is a good idea due to its age. I have tested the mechanical advantage using these pulleys and pulling my ATV by hand up a slight incline and everything works as expected (according to a video on YouTube I am getting a 9:1 mechanical advantage using 4 pulleys). The 12mm rappelling rope runs freely and smoothly through these pulleys and they seem to be very well made. Based on the rated specs, the rope should break before the pulleys. Would I trust my life to this pulley in a climbing/rescue scenario? Based on what I have seen so far, I would have to say yes. We'll see how well they hold up for my application. For the price I won't cry if I break one and have to replace it.

Danger
I disliked this GM double pulley because it is poorly made lots of free motion around rope pulleys and whole unit does not meet our satisfaction ,I am a Chief of a Emergency Rescue Squad and i got this product checked it out and i absolutely would not let any of my men conduct a high or low angle rescue with this equipment in fact i,m not even going to send it back for someone else to buy and possibly loose their life ,i took the Jaws Of Life and crushed this product and threw it in garbage an hour after i received it.just saying I will stick with Petzl or Kong products. Thanks

Sturdy, well made, and plenty tough.
Have used a few times in a 5:1 pulley system to haul limbs and logs up a steep side of a ravine. They are plenty sturdy enough, and fit the 7/16ths rope I use perfectly. The becket is handy for attaching one end of the rope to make a closed system. The one big mistake I made is assuming these would be prusik minding. I use a 6.5 mm Sterling hollow block prusik (a great item) as a progress capture and unfortunately, the loop and the entire prusik knot gets pulled into and around the pulley. I had to devise a quick and dirty fix by inserting a short length of electical wire through the holes in the side plate and bending to provide a stopper just over the rope. The sheaves roll smoothly, though they don't revolve freely, perhaps only rotating a couple times when you give them a good spin. Even so, I doubt they add much friction to the system.I lubed them as well as I could (not easy, or even possible as far as I know... maybe bearings are sealed?) with Teflon bicycle chain lube. The open design may save weight, but is a bit of a problem when working where they may contact damp or sticky ground and pick up dirt and debris. Fairly easy to clean, but still the opportunity for fine grit and dirt to get into them.Plenty sturdy enough for all but industrial size lifts or pulls.

I use a larger diameter(5/8") rope for rigging and it is difficult to find a sheave which will accommodate it. This particular device has a large enough size that it fits in nicely. It is easy to secure to an anchor point; I typically choke a round sling around a beam. Having the freedom to pull a point from a more secure footing is particularly helpful when in situations that require extra lines tied to the load, plus using a device like this allows the second or third line to be operated away from another person to insure that everyone stays safe. I will eventually get a self-locking sheave but I will retain this device in my toolkit to use as a redirect in order to preserve any mechanical advantages these devices give for pulling heavy loads.

we have relied on them under some pretty extreme conditions
We use these pulleys for our Technical Large Animal Rescue Team. We have used them for some time, we have relied on them under some pretty extreme conditions, and they have always performed reliably. In high risk situations you have to have reliable equipment and I'm very comfortable with all of GM's hardware.
