Makes an awesome gift
Got this as a gift for my husband who is a wine lover and really liked that this was a different take on the typical design of a wine opener. He found it easy to use and there’s less likelihood for cork breakages. It comes in a nice gift tin and box so you don’t even need to wrap it! Wonderful quality and we’re very impressed.

Works Well
I love the look of this. I ended up actually pulling this out and using it for our impromptu holiday party because we usually get the easy twist off wine, but a couple of people accidentally bought for kind with corks and so I ended up using this instead of keeping it for a gift. But I'm glad I had it on hand and it functioned well. It doesn't take up a lot of space in the drawer and it pulled the cork out of all the bottles first try. And I can't say that about a lot of the wine openers that I've had in the past.

Best Wine Opener Ever.
Really works great. It does what it is supposed to do. Has saved 2 bottles of wine for me.

Very interesting and unique device, TSA compliant, and fun to use
Tried the opener on a few bottles. Took it on a few trips. The following is a conclusion on whether or not one should buy this or any other similar product like this. 1. Travel. It's really, really, really nice to know this opener is TSA compliant. I took it through checkpoint on hand carried backpack. The rule is that the opener cannot have a blade. Most corkscrew setup has a blade to cut the foil and that makes it noncompliant for TSA carry on. Checked bag is OK but not carried on. Anyway, this device does not have a blade. The two prongs are not considered blade although some TSA looked at it for a minute but then decided it is not a blade. So, yes, it was carry on compliant. That is very good for traveling. 2. But because there is no blade, you will need another method to remove the foil. I ended up having to use a dinner fork to pick open the foil to expose the cork before this device could be used. So.... it's a conundrum. I was able to bring this on carry on but I needed another gadget to cut the foil. 3. Function. Yes, it does work! It will require some strength tho. The inserting part took the most work. Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle...shove, wiggle..shove...wiggle. Took a while but finally after fully inserted then you can twist ie turn turn turn while pulling on the handle. That removes the cork intact. 4. But...is it superior to standard corkscrew?? Well, yes and no. The No part is that it isn't any less effort exerting and not as easy as it seemed. However, the Yes part is that it almost guarantees success each time. And the fact that the corkscrew can be tricky and can break the cork into crumbs...happened to me and to lots of people. So, Yes, it is superior to use this device than a corkscrew but be advised that it isn't like inserting hot knife into butter. There is still work involved. 5. Reinsert cork. Now that is something you cannot do with a corkscrew. Reversing the removal instruction you can truly reinsert the cork. But that said, I have not once needed to. I usually just half cork the half bottle....doesn't everybody?? It's not like I am going to store a half drunk bottle for a few more years to age? Right? I don't see the purpose of actually opening a bottle and recork the bottle fully....there is no purpose. Once opened, oxygen enters into the bottle..it needs to be consumed with prejudice. There's no saving the bottle. So half corking works just fine. One needs to drink the whole thing within a few days anyway. So, yes, it can insert a cork whole..possible, true, but no practical reason to. So it's a brilliant feature with no applicable practicality. Oh well. Lastly, the puller handle doubles as a cap opener. This is for all you beer drinkers. The cap opener easily pops off a cap. There's not a lot to be said here. No, there's not a recapping feature on this device. Apparently cork can be reinserted but a cap cannot be re-crimpped on to a bottle. Other aspects: relatively light weight. Metal prongs is still functional after 10+ bottles.. still TSA compliant.. Novelty value is a plus. Your friends will go Oooooooohhhh amazingly when seeing it work the first time. Alright there you have it! Hope you gained some points to consider before deciding on buying one or not. Best of luck!!

Novel wine opener
This wine opener is a little different than screw-type ones in that it has 2 prongs that slide down the side of a cork to gently pull it out. It works great for older bottles where the cork has gotten dry and crumbly. To use it, I align it at the top and give it a few taps down with my palm. It works really well. I’m going to get some more of these to use as stocking stuffers this Christmas. It’s the perfect little thing that not everyone would think to get for themselves. It’s well made and looks like I spent a lot more for it than I did.

Not easy
I don’t really care about preserving the cork, I just couldn’t find a replacement for the corkscrew that I liked which included a foil cutter. So I decided to try something new, especially because this Amazon copy made it seem so easy. It isn’t. You have to exert an uncomfortable amount of pressure even to get this thing on either side of a cork, and when that pressure pushes the cork farther into the bottle, what are your choices? Why, either look around for that spiral corkscrew you had hoped to replace, or push the damned cork all the way into the bottle, which is what I did the second time I tried to use it. I can tell you that once the cork is halfway deeper into the neck than it is when you started trying to use this thing, this thing won’t help you extract it. And that’s a better case scenario than what happened on my third attempt, when exerting the requisite force it takes to get this thing on both sides of a cork pushed the cork forcefully into the bottle, producing a mini-geyser of wine I had to mop up off the counter and my hands. That wasn’t fun. Anyway there must be a trick I haven’t learned yet or this device would never have made it off the drawing board. So far I haven’t tried it on old bottles with dried-up corks, maybe that’s the ticket. And I did extract the first cork successfully—beginner’s luck?

DON'T, do NOT! Absolutely worst wine opener ever!
I have a large cork screw that I've had for years. I really liked the idea of this smaller opener. Thought it would be great for travel or to grab quickly. I've used this style of opener before so I felt confident ordering it. Well, it looked fine out of the box, but the very first time I tried to use it the prongs just twisted and bent. I worked for about 15 minutes trying to get this flimsy thing to work. The prongs wouldn't go all the way down the sides of the cork. They gouged the cork, they bent and twisted when I tried to twist out the cork. I finally gave up and got my big corkscrew and took 15 seconds to open the bottle. UGH.
