"FAST" is not meant to suggest that I have done a thorough scientific comparison of several available pepper grinders and found this one to be the fastEST. But I'll tell you what I can about the speed of this grinder. Suffice it to say, I do find it to be favorably fast for COOKING purposes--not just tabletop use.The first electric grinders (salt and pepper) I bought were from the Artesio line by Ozeri, also available on Amazon, and comparably priced to this one. I enjoyed those but eventually gave them away when I decided that seasoning a pot of soup, for example, was a bit more task than the pepper mill was really up for. It could do it, but it seemed to take longer than I somehow expected. Also, since they're tall with a narrow base, I tended to knock them over by accident, and it did not end well when they hit the floor. Inexpensive to replace, sure, but inconvenient to have to bother with replacement. I then got a touch of nostalgia and went with the hand-cranked Cole & Mason Derwent mills. Same thing: salt grinder was ok but pepper was a little sluggish. And I REALLY missed the one-handed operation when seasoning all sides of a steak, for instance. I then vowed to seek out a speedy electric option and scoured countless reviews for remarks about the yield of various mills. This Isottcom unit seemed to be a low-risk option and reviews suggested that there was some prospect that they would turn out to be fast.Well, my pepper mill just arrived two hours ago. Within seconds, I had installed the batteries and loaded the peppercorn hopper. I was eager for the big test on the white plate. Without realizing that it was set for the finest grind, I pressed the button and was elated to see that within just four or five seconds, I had a teaspoon or so of finely-ground pepper. I then went to the opposite extreme and tried the coarsest grind setting, which produced an appropriately coarser product even faster. I may or may not make a video to document my experience, but just by imagining how much pepper I might need in a pot of soup or on a roast, I was pleased to also make a safe speculation that this grinder will kick out the pepper I want--sometimes copious amounts--at an acceptable rate.The lights, battery installation, aesthetics, ergonomics, grind settings, and price are all just fine--likable, in fact. But I want to encourage those of you who are mainly concerned about rate of output to give this one a try. Unless you're cooking for an army, I think you'll find that this grinder will keep up with you in the kitchen.I will update this review if needed, but my initial thought is that this is a big step in the right direction.

After being dissapointed by 4 different grinders, I’m happy to say this one is wonderful in all aspects; design, quality components, comfort, and performance. I’m a mechanical engineer so when the past units failed, I disassembled them to find what had failed. What failed were the cheap Mickey Mouse plastic gears. Had they made them from a combination of Delron and brass, they’d have been able to handle the tooth load and given years of life. Polyethylene is cheap and good for static shapes, not dynamic loads.

I purchases this item (actually 2 sets) on August 5, 2020. I can not access the salt container to add more. Instead of unlocking it just spins around and around. Motor works but if I cant add salt it is useless. Reached out to iSottcom today via the Amazon system, will update review based on their actions. 2/7/21Update: iSottcom replied to my contacting them the same day (a Sunday no less) and apologized for the trouble I was have and is sending me a new one shipped the next day. I have change my 1 star to 5 because of the great customer serve and I do very much like these mills.My original review only just posted today, so had no bearing on customer service actions. 2/8/21

I've had these for a week or so and they're a great improvement over the manual grinders I had. These grinders are easy to fill and the grind size selector works well. I was disappointed to see that they require 6 AAA batteries each. I didn't realize this when purchasing the grinders but I probably would still have purchased them. I haven't had them long enough to determine how long the batteries will last.

The salt grinder stopped working after one set of batteries. At first I was very impressed as it felt better, more powerful and had more room than my previous grinder that stopped working due to a problem with the battery housing. The salt grinder I didn't use that much but the batteries used up fairly quickly .. noticeably quicker than my previous grinder. On my second set of batteries the grinder worked for about 3 or 4 uses before quiting. Now it doesn't work at all. Will not buy again hoping I just got a dud as I think this thing eats through batteries anyway.

Love this salt and pepper grinder!! The only negative is the holder arrived broken but it’s not a big deal for me. The actual grinders are amazing and seem like they are built to last. Great buy!!

We bought these to replace another automatic grinder set. These use 6 AAA batteries each. It's kind of a lot of batteries. I like these better than the last set we had. They were more narrow. These have a wider grinder so It grinds more in a shorter time, and does so over a wider area.I like that you do not need to remove the hopper to change the batteries. There will be less opportunities for spills.

One of the grinder motors stopped working within months of purchase, now I have to switch back and forth to use. Not recommended, spend a little more and get better ones.

Looks great sitting in the counter. Perfect size for decorative and usage. Love the stand for easy movement to table. Really glad I purchased these grinders.
