I have only had this for a short period, but it replaced a much larger (huge!) and much heavier transformer and seems to work fine! I'm not an electrical expert, so I don't know what technology magic reduced the weight and size of a transformer with these specifications. I'm hoping that the magic does not result in a shorter lifespan (the old one lasted a long time, maybe 25 years?). And as a bonus, the old transformer produced an annoying hum; this one does not!

One star deducted for no safety certs -- come on, Amazon, you should be insisting on that as a minimum. That said, it *just* fits in a 4" box (tabs don't quite line up). Installed and working. Wire color coding was non-standard, red for line and white for DC output. It's powering four 20 watt halogen under cabinet lamps (80W) so it should be operating well below its maximum rating. Will update after a few weeks of use.

Absolutely perfect for our under cabinet lights

Bought two to power 18 lamp fixture. Each transformer power 9 x 10 W halgone G4 bulbs. Installed and everything was good. One week later, only half the bulbs are lit. Wired the other transformer into this half of the circuit to verify, and yup, one of the transformers is now dead. Who knows how long the other one will last. Maybe I'm unlucky, maybe these are super low quality.

I shopped all over finding this amazing solution at a great price! Installation was very easy in my kitchen cabinets providing a beautiful clean light (I had the lights but my old transformer went bad).

The wires were tin and difficult to work with. When plugged in, it sparked and became nonfunctional. I removed the lid and could see a black spot from the spark on the bottom of the PC board that may have touched the bottom of the metal casing where there was a black spot too. The thin film inside the metal casing did not provide sufficient insolation. I may have wired it incorrectly by connecting the d.c leads to the a.c power and the a.c. leads to the load. Good quality on the board but marginal design quality on its enclosure.
