Do This and Don't Worry About Color Codes
So far as I can tell, not having X-ray vision, this cable is well built. Most seem to be built well, but I did buy this one to replace another brand in which the yellow wire was not connected to any of the connector spades. That said, here's the simple way to navigate the mess that is connector color codings. You can try to navigate the differences in color function and plug position among "standard", "traditional", and other color code schemes that can be different for trucks, trailers, and RV's, as well as different in different parts of the world, and maybe difference on your vehicle, but unless you already work in the field, you will likely never be sure what you have. Maybe not even then. With this cable, plugged into a Reese Towpower 74682 7 Way Multi-Plug T-Connector Assembly, which was connected to a 2003 Suburban via the Suburban's trailer wiring connector, it turned out that RED is left turn, BROWN is right turn, and GREEN is tail or running lights. The other wires are presumably consistent with that established scheme. I'm pretty sure more than one of you is saying, "Whoa, that doesn't agree with what I thought the color scheme was." It doesn't agree with the color scheme I was thinking I would be following, either. But I would not have known that with confidence unless I had checked each color for function by plugging it into the car and testing each wire while I operated the turn signals and running lights.I could test further to see which blade was associated with each color wire, but I don't need to know that, since I know what each color does. And I could not have been certain any other way. (Obviously, if I don't have a vehicle trailer wiring connector and have to run my own, I need to go further and use the meter to see which blade carries power to each color.) But, the bonus is that I also know that the vehicle trailer wiring is intact, so if something doesn't work on the trailer (1953 Airstream being revamped), I know the fault is in the trailer's own wiring, the wiring I did. That won't happen, because an Ohmmeter can tell you if the trailer lights are wired correctly and are properly grounded. So that's the lesson. Don't worry about pin configurations or which color system is intended. Test colors for function, and test your trailer light circuits for continuity, before you make the connects from the cable to the trailer wires. Then you can wire with confidence, because a color error by some Chinese factory drone no longer matters. And you will have caught any major manufacturing fault, like my other cable with one wire not connected at all, before you do a bunch of work.

Great quality product
I purchased this cable to replace the old plug and old cables on my 14 foot utility trailer. The plug is very sturdy and fused all together with the cable itself. One of this should bad boys should it been on my trailer back when it was manufactured.I love how well this thing is made: Conductors are rated to handle more then what my needs are. Ground (white) is #10ga, Electric Brake (blue) is #12ga, Positive + constant current/Auxiliary (black) is #12ga, Right turn & brake (green) is #14ga, Left turn & brake (yellow) is #14ga, Tale / Marker (brown) is #14ga. The jacket covering the group of wires is just the right thickness. Insulation at each wire is the right thickness as well. Ends of each wire are pre-striped for easy installation. The cable although is pretty thick it is flexible so it can be plugged in any direction it needs to. The length works perfectly for my needs. This manufacturer deserves a big thumbs up for a well product put together. When the time comes that I need to purchase a new cord it will be one of this. Job well done Hopkins!Big thumbs up to "BigDodge" on his recommendations to lubricate all connections at both ends of this cable. I've done it and the only thing I can say is that I should of done this long time ago.!!UPDATE: 02-08-2014 It almost has been a year from my purchase. I drag the cable couple of times when I used a different vehicle than the usual pick up to tow the trailer. The cable has marks on it but no view of any insulation from cables themselves. I use this trailer several times per month, still very satisfied with this purchase.

Good product, OLD style color coding for Hoppy 7 RV
I am a 30 year Automotive Technician and I am well versed in wiring and circuit testing. I purchased this item along with a Hoppy Endurance 7 RV blade vehicle connector for a wiring rehab project on my 20' trailer, what I got was a headache. After striping the trailer of all old wiring I installed the Hopkins 20146 cable to a wiring junction block and made all necessary and proper color coded connections being very careful to make sure all are correct. To my surprise nothing worked properly, after some testing with a Fluke multimeter and double checking. What I found was the Hopkins 20146 8' 7 RV blade molded trailer cable wired to old style color code, not one color was located for a Hoppy 7 RV connection as shown on their website.Well put together product but wire color coding is not for Hoppy 7 RV blade current color coding. BE AWARE OF THIS IF YOU PURCHASE!!!UPDATE!! I contacted Hoppy Technical Support they informed me that ALL! molded harness's are wired to the OLD STYLE color coding. I informed them that their website does not specify this, when you choose to view the trailer wiring from the items page it shows new style color coding. HOPPY PLEASE FIX THIS!!I have updated my rating since the product is correct for its design OLD STYLE color coding.

Good, but wire colours don’t make up properly
Wire colours are all Backwards to any normal trailer wiring…Thankfully I did check the pin out on the plug before install but for anyone who just wants to install this will be a pain.Should terminate properly.
