Do not buy this product
This phone does not work without its main base. A complete waste of money.

$180 for one handset? If you love wasting money, buy this.

beautiful phone but poor functionality
Bored with normal panasonic, siemens, etc. phones, trying to avoid a wanna-be-modern B&O, when i saw the Punkt phone at Chicago Museum of Modern Art store, bought it.Took an act of God to open the battery compartment. The battery life is real low. Sometimes in the middle of a call, even after a day or two of charging. Cannot use it for the intercom. After a few weeks of use, it fell off my hand ...the battery compartment opened up, and the inner part of it came off.Called the distributor. I also explained my problems with the phone to them. Very nice and professional people. They charged about $150 (??) and changed my phone. The phone came. This time, it was pretty easy to open the battery compartment. Again, the battery life is really low. Can not get to intercom. If someone else calls while I am on the phone, i do not hear the call waiting tone.In general, I like Jasper Morrison's deigns, and this phone is beautiful but probably better for a kid's playroom than a home office. Not worth wasting time on it anymore. Will probably go in the closet or the guest room.

don't judge a book by it's cover ...
I love the look of the phone compared to what's on the market now so I ordered two... I am willing to fork out almost $500 (for both phones) for looks, but as they are PHONES they also need to function. Agreeing w. first reviewer about it 'taking an act of god' to open handset (to insert batteries) from then on all was good. on the 3rd day the handset could not 'recognize/lost contact' w. the base. I wrote the company and they were very responsive - telling me how to 'reset' contact, but that didn't work. I am hoping to get a replacement or a refund. Skip this one if you are considering buying... too pricey for a necessary item!!!

Nice design, terrible telephone.
This is a nice tactile object but a terrible phone. The audio is terrible, the hands free loudspeaker quality is worse. All of the built-in ring tones are incredibly annoying. There's no bluetooth, wifi, usb or other connectivity so all your contacts have to be entered manually. There's no answer machine alert when you have a message except for a static graphic on the screen. The screen is poorly backlit, the buttons aren't lit at all. The "call" button and the "hang up" button both have about 20 different functions and the menu layouts are nested through multiple levels - making the menus laborious to access. It's a really nice aesthetic design, but a terrible functional phone.
