How bad is it?
So many ways this book is bad. Let’s start with the “hero” a geriatric old guy who acts like a tier one operator. Of course he has a smoking hot wife young enough to be his daughter and although he spent some time in law enforcement he’s seemingly a multimillionaire with unlimited resources to prep. He quickly assembles a literal horde of mindless followers he has working and guarding his plantation as they live in squalor allowing him to drink coffee and watch from the big house. He pays them in credits so they can pay him to rent their tents and buy their food which they help him “salvage”. If they work really hard he sells them decent clothing. As far as action, there is none because our hero is so perfect he totally dominates any opposition with lengthy speeches then his minions disarm the opposition. In my opinion this is nothing but a fantasy that the author has of himself set in a post apocalyptic world where he can live out his political and theological musings. The books on saving grace is it’s on kindle unlimited so other than your time it’s free.

Eye opening of the future
I love all the different characters in the book. Being from Kansas myself knowing where a lot of the book was happening in.I am retired military , years in active and retired out of the guard . I liked the people standing up for there rights .The Government is taking down the road of all the actions that is happening in the US now.I work now with all LEO'S and military so love being around that kind of people with the mindset of this book. Keep up the great work Mr. Smith I would love to meet you some day you would be a very interesting gentleman to meet and talk with.

A game changer
I came across this book while looking for a new book to pass the time. As I began reading it, it became clear this book was different. I hope you feel the same as I did when you start reading it. Then I hope you enjoy it as much at the end.

The Author's passion for some of ...
his points of view are, well ... passionate. Some of those passages could be perceived as jingoistic. Fortunately those occasional bits of passionate, heartfelt monologuing, have not prevented this book 1 (of 4) from being a surprisingly good read 📚.Many will just see, read, & enjoy, a good story, that has a more reality grounded presentation. Quietly dramatic, rather than mostly melodramatic on TEOTWAWKI.Don't get me wrong. I do enjoy a Tao Wong, fantasy style, LitRPG TEOTWAWKI story like 'System Apocalypse' Thus has none of rhose fantasy, Litrpg elements. What was really unexpected was how well this book unobtrusively included, and subtly folded in, more info "Levels."What 'More?'Because its TEOTWAWKI presentation is realistically grounded, the mentions of various processes, procedures, techniques, & protocols used by the characters, motivated me to use Kindle's word/phrase search feature on them.Surprise 😮 !!It may be a fictional story, but nearly, invisibly woven into it is a beginners level primer on prepping fir normals, rather than the tin-foil hat wearing.Which, when you do a real Google search on the books fictional "Initial Event cause, will have you end up in a"WTF? That could really happen, just like that? In the real world 🌎??moment of wonder. And then, if you randomly search some of the survival stuff & discover, like I did, that they're all real, all buildable, purchasable, or preparable.Well you wonder, was that JUST a good story?Or something extra? An introductory to the idea of, "hmmmm, if I did want me & my family to be better prepared, for whatever, what should I maybe, take a look at... 🤔"And, why?A good story, pretty well told.A good beginner primer for the interested. And possibly a Call to Self Action for those for whom this book (I havent yet read the other 3 in this series,) might resonate with on a deeper, dont-just-wake-up-get-moving-too, level. The good editing was a pleasantly nice bonus. As Kindle Unlimited is a dung-heap, of a minefield, of amateurish, poorly written, unoriginal, grammatically error riddled crap, that we, dedicated readers end up having to slog thru to find "The Good Stuff"A find like this one,That is in IMHO, a solid 4 Star, well worth the time of anyone looking for a good story. And, maybe? Open to learning about a realistic take on an 'out-there' premise?I think you just might enjoy this.

One of the best must read of this genre. Original and thought provoking.
Fantastic for answering the questions that this genre has avoided which is law and appropriate dispensation of punishment. Also how to avoid a socialistic approach by implementing a motivated capitalist mindset. Great blending of philosophy and practical applications in a SHTF environment.

A mountain born's Enjoyment!
The tale really deserves 5 Stars and a Cross.I write from the viewpoint of a fellow who used hatchet, axe, and 2 pound sledge at age 6, to make kindling out of sections of cedar fenceposts, and poplar logs.

Interesting
New to the genre. Read it with an open mind. The premise of social collapse can be a great backdrop for character development, The characters in this book are interesting and well developed
