SO FAR-IT WORKS
I PURCHASED A CAPRESSO AND IT FAILED AFTER THE FIRST ATTEMPT. BACK IT WENT. I THEN GOT A CUISINART. IT WORKED TWICE, BROKE, BACK IT WENT. I THEN ORDERED AND RECEIVED A DeLonghi AND IT SEEMS TO BE WELL MADE AND WORKED WELL.WE'LL SEE WHAT HAPPENS IN THE FUTURE. BUT IN THE MEAN TIME I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT. IT IS COMPACT AND DOES USE MUCH COUNTER SPACE. EASY TO USE AND EASY TO CLEAN. ADDENDUM # 1 --- SO FAR IT HAS PERFORMED FLAWLESSLY. VERY EASY TO CLEAN AND ASSEMBLE. ALSO, THE REMOVABLE COFFEE BIN IS DISHWASHER SAFE. IT IS FAIRLY QUIET AND DOES A GREAT JOB. SO FAR---SO GOOD! GRINDS THE BEANS TO PERFECTION. ADDENDUM # 2 (FOUR DAYS LATER)---- WELL THIS MORNING I THOUGHT I WOULD REALLY CLEAN THE MACHINE AND I REMOVED THE UPPER BURR GRINDER AS INSTRUCTED. ALL WENT WELL. I RE-ASSEMBLED THE MACHINE AND IT DID NOT START. I TRIED SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO START IT. STILL NO LUCK. THEN BY ACCIDENT I RE-INSERTED THE COFFEE CONTAINER THAT CATCHES THE GROUND COFFEE AND IT DID INDEED START. NO WHERE IN THE INSTRUCTIONS DID IT SAY THE GROUND COFFEE CONTAINER NEEDS TO BE INSERTED FOR IT TO RUN. JUST ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF PRODUCTS WE HAVE MANUFACTURED IN CHINA. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THE USA??? WE CAN'T EVEN MAKE COFFEE GRINDERS NOW??? THIS GRINDER IS STILL ONE OF THE BEST!! ADDENDUM # 3 --- PURRRRRFECT. SO FAR SO GOOD. SECOND WEEK AND ALL IS GREAT.WHAT THE FUTURE HAS IN STORE IS STILL OPEN. I AM OPTIMISTIC. THE GRINDER IS WORKING AS ADVERTISED AND WE LOVE IT. GRINDS WELL AND VERY EASY TO CLEAN AND ASSEMBLE AND DISASSEMBLE. WE'LL SEE WHAT HAPPENS IN THE NEXT WEEK???? IT BREWS DELICIOUS CUP OF COFFEE. WILL KEEP YOU POSTED. WE LIKED IT SOOOOO MUCH WE GOT ONE FOR OUR DAUGHTER. ADDENDUM # 4 ------ STILL WORKING WONDERFULLY. THE BEST AND MOST RELIABLE ONE I HAVE EVER HAD. THE FIRST TWO BRANDS BROKE AFTER A FEW DAYS AND ONE BROKE RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX. MY DAUGHTER ALSO LOVES HER GRINDER AND HAS HAD NO PROBLEMS. REALLY TOOOOO BAD WE COULDN'T MAKE THEM IN THIS COUNTRY AND GIVE AMERICANS THE WORK AND PAY. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BURR GRINDER. ADDENDUM # 5 --------WELL IT HAS BEEN A LITTLE OVER A MONTH NOW AND ALL IS GREAT AND THE GRINDER IS FLAWLESS. MY DAUGHTER ALSO PURCHASED THE SAME ONE AND IT ALSO IS OUT-STANDING. SOME PEOPLE NIT-PICK ABOUT STUPID THINGS! WELL, HELL, NOTHING IS PERFECT. WE HAVE HAD NO TROUBLE WITH THIS GRINDER.DOES A GREAT JOB AND EASY TO MAINTAIN AND CLEAN. THE CAPRESSO WE HAD WAS A PIECE OF CRAP AS WAS THE CUISINART. THEY EITHER BROKE AFTER A SHORT TIME OR ARRIVED DEFECTIVE. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS GRINDER. ADDENDUM # 6 --- WELL IT HAS BEEN ABOUT TWO-THREE MONTHS NOW AND STILL WORKING GREAT. ONLY PROBLEM IS WHEN IT IS TIME TO REMOVE THE GRINDER INSIDE TO CLEAN IT, IT TENDS TO BE VERY DIFFICULT, AFTER SOME ELBOW GREASE IT DOES COME OUT. MAYBE IF I DID IT MORE FREQUENTLY, IT WOULD BE EASIER AND RELEASE. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS GRINDER.

Quiet (relatively speaking), and actually improves my cup of coffee!
Just purchased this when our old burr grinder died. I purchased after liking the reviews that said it was quiet, and also liking the clean lines of it. It's definitely tons quieter than our old one, but the surprise benefit is that it actually makes a better cup of coffee and reduces the amount of beans we use too. With our other grinder, we learned to set it to grind 8 cups in order to brew a nice strong 6 cups (we like our coffee dark and strong). The first time we used this grinder, we tested it with a 6 cup grind for a 6 cup pot. Surprise, it was too strong - - - we had to add 2 more cups of water to make it palatable. After trial and error, we found a 5 cup grind makes a perfect 6 cup carafe. We can only deduce that this grinder produces a more efficient, accurate and clean grind, with less waste. At $15/lb for coffee, the fact that this grinder is saving us money this way, is a nice surprise too. Cons: my only peeve, is that the bean reservoir is quite small and needs to be refilled about every other time. I guess this keeps the beans fresh, but not having to refill it as often would be nice. - others have complained about the static burst of grinds that make a mess. Unfortunately, that's what you get with plastic - there's no way around that. It seems to lessen this problem if you 1) wait a minute after grinding before opening and scooping, and 2) give the grinder a couple taps on the side before removing container. ** update October 2016 * * yes, we've had this a couple of years now and it's still going strong until . . . about a month ago, I noticed that the coffee would not feed automatically. I'd push the start button and it would begin grinding, then just whirr when the beans didn't fall into the grinder. I figured since it was probably time to buy a new grinder, there'd be no harm in my fiddling with this to see if I could "fix" it. The first thing I did was empty the beans and give the reserve bin a good wiping down - - no luck. The second thing I did was remove the center feeding core (just twist left to unlock). Wow - - - the packed and caked coffee in that core was astonishing. The oils from the beans combined with the fine grind created caked-on clumps that I had to scrape and flake off using a toothpick. It's no wonder the beans weren't feeding through! I gave it a good cleaning, washed and dried well, replaced it and it's again working perfectly like new.

Amazon sent me a clearly used item
I've had this product before and I knew what I was buying right off the bet. An overall good quality, medium professional range grinder, with an easy interface, which is comfortable to operate and doesn't take too much space on your kitchen. I got what I asked for, but as soon as I unpacked the box I noticed that the original packaging has seen some days - it was bent up and untaped. The item inside has also been clearly handled before. It was clean but scratches from prior use remained on the sides of the device, and one of the detachable pieces had a poorly mended crack on it, visible in the pictures. Disappointing, especially since I paid full price for a "new" device.

Reliable and well made, compared to a lot of similarly-priced ones!
I got this one for my dad. I spent a while looking for a good coffee grinder, and this seemed to have the best reviews and be in the price range I was looking for. I was a little concerned about how long it would last, because I’ve seen cheap coffee grinders only last a couple of years. This one has lasted him three years and is still going on strong! I’d highly recommend this coffee grinder. The ground size adjuster is easy to use, and while the little box that holds the grounds can be a little flukey to pull out sometimes, it’s made well and works consistently.

Not great for french press
This burr grinder is the right price, it looks very nice, it works very well. It's relatively quiet and the container works better than other grinders I have used, it doesn't spill grinds all over and doesn't seem very static-y like other containers can. One complaint, the 'coarse' setting is very fine. I haven't had success using the grinds from the coarsest setting in my french press. It could be the fault of my press, but I had so much sediment in my cup that it was not worth drinking. BUT since the grinds are so much more uniform now than my 20 year old Braun, I am happy with the drip coffee using this press and I don't need to make french press every day like I used to, so it's not a huge deal.

An inexpensive way to upgrade from your blade grinder.... but
UPDATE (November 1, 2016) This unit failed in April 2015. The grind adjustment knob wouldn't budge and beans stopped feeding through. I purchased this model https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000AR7SY/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 soon after and it works great and doesn't have the annoying static problem. ------------------------------ We wanted a burr grinder that would not take up counter space. This sturdy grinder takes up not much more space that our blade grinder (you know the ones designed for grinding spices?) and produces much more uniform ground coffee. If you're reading these reviews, you may have seen a few complaints about the adjustment knobs. I guess the manufacturer has addressed this because mine are very sturdy and firm. I also saw several complaints about static but I think it may be in the way they are handling the container that receives the grinds. Yes it's made of smoky looking plastic (looks good and is quite well made actually!) and plastic quite often has a static problem. Here's what I discovered; when you remove the container, don't open its cover. This container comes out looking like a little box with only one square opening that the grounds were fed into. Keep the container closed and just turn it so the opening is facing your coffee filter and then tap the grounds out. Opening the lid is what creates the static discharge and then it is hard to keep the grounds coffee from spraying out a bit. Sure, there may be a few grounds left attached to the walls of that plastic box but don't worry about it. Daily use will still only leave a small coating of grounds inside so the amount of grounds you tap into your coffee maker will still average out. We love this thing and we don't regret buying it. I just make sure I top up the beans in the evening and in the morning, I just press the button. It grinds a fixed amount of coffee while I go about getting my coffee maker ready. By the time I have my water and coffee filter ready, I just pop that little plastic box out of the grinder and tap the freshly ground coffee in!

Liked it enough to buy it again
Owned the first one for 9 years and had no problems with it until someone in my family tried grinding a pound of coffee (or more) at one time and, I assume, burned it up. I liked its performance (we always had great tasting coffee) and longevity but the one thing that bugged me about it was that it can make a bit of a mess sometimes when pulling out the drawer to get to the grinds. So, I figured I'd check around and try out a different brand. The thing was, however, the reviews said that virtually everybody had that problem no matter which grinder that got. If that wasn't that particular issue, something else was that I didn't face with the De Longhi. So after reading a ton of reviews on multiple grinders I thought to myself "Why am I wasting my time? This grinder served me well...no, it served me very well- daggone 9 years of great tasting coffee!" So I stopped searching and bought another one. We've had 3 more months of great coffee and no issues except for the bit of a mess that I have to wipe off the counter every so often. No big deal all things considered. I recommend it. BTW, we have used it to grind for pour over, aeropress, french press, and two different drip brewers and all have tasted great.

I would not recommend this product based on my experience
This is going to be a long one. The TLDR is that i cannot recommend this product, and i would think twice about also buying any product from Braun or Kenwood that are serviced by the same support number as Delonghi. The full story is i purchased this grinder in early October of 2022, after having the exact same model about 6 to 7 years and being relatively pleased with it. Unfortunately, the new unit died on me just a few days after the return period for Amazon ended (just over a month). I called the support number and had a video call with the representative and they agreed that the unit was defective. They informed me that i would be required to show proof of purchase (POP) but after i did that i could get a replacement. I said i can have that for you in like 5 to 10 minutes after getting off this call. I received an email and replied with the proof of purchase and waited. After about a week of seeing no activity i called the support number again to ask the status of my ticket. The ticket had been languishing with no activity for week even though i sent the POP almost immediately. So basically, i patiently waited a week for nothing. So i waited some more. When still no activity i called back to the support number again to ask the status. I was informed that the grinder was out of stock and i would have to wait. They could provide no ETA but said check back in 2 weeks. By now we are getting into the Christmas holidays so i figured i would just wait until the new year and then check back. When i call back (now about 3 to 4 weeks on) it is still out of stock. Its at this time that they offer to give me a different (Braun) grinder. After doing some research i turn this down as i glean it to be an inferior product (a flat burr grinder vs a conical burr that i purchased ) and tell them i will wait until i can get a replacement of the product i actually purchased. On a subsequent call one rep told me i could use the 'Notify Me When Back in Stock' option on the Delonghi web site to know when the grinder was back in stock. Perfect. This way i don't have to keep calling back. So i follow those instructions and wait. I get an email on January 12th that it is finally back in stock. So i call the support number for the Nth time, only to be told the warranty service has different stock than the Delonghi web site. Okay, but then why did the rep tell me to do this? Finally, my patience has worn thin and i snap. I tell them i have been without the grinder i already paid for over 2 months and ask what is a reasonable amount of time to wait. At this time i am given to option to get a refund which i gladly accept. The refund check arrived the other day (2023-02-15) almost exactly 6 weeks from the date. I am not sure how many times i called that support number but i would estimate it was at least 20 times, probably closer to 30. I seriously think i talked to almost all the employees there. Some even recognized me on subsequent calls. I got varying levels of support from down right inept to genuinely helpful. However, the lengths that i had to go to to get any resolution (not a speedy resolution - just any resolution) were insane. It seemed like nothing would get done unless you repeatedly called and that i was being strung along through the process to see if i would just give up. This is why i say i would really think twice about buying a Braun or Kenwood product as they use the same support number. It was not a good experience and was very frustrating to go through. I have since purchased a grinder from another manufacturer and am pleased with my purchase.

Excellent but not for heavy duty
It's super excellent as long as it works within its limits of operation. It's not for heavy duty continuous grinding. It's for personal use with limited capacity. Max 75 gram of coffee beans to be grinding per time then it must stop to avoid heating of gears.

dont buy this product
Took lot of time for the seller to deliver the product. Very disappointed after receiving the product as this works with 110watts power and is not suitable for Indian conditions. No such info was there in the product description. Don't buy this product. Complete waste of money.
