Absolutely perfect for our hot tub. I like the extra thick material.

I placed this atop my hot tub, draped over the edges and held in place by the hard cover, rather than cutting it to float directly on the water. That said, it sags a bit and touches the water substantially. When I want to take a soak, I open the hard cover halfway, fold back a corner of the spa blanket and slide in. I leave an opening for my head and shoulders. Before the spa blanket, I would see the steam rise into the cold night air, which might as well be dollar signs. Now, I don't see heat escaping, and I don't feel that little edge of cold creeping in, which used to happen pre-spa blanket. Also the jets don't fire up to rewarm the water, because it stays warm thanks to the blanket. It hasn't been bitter cold yet, maybe in the 40s at night thus far, in November in New Jersey. Will the blanket pay for itself in terms of energy savings? I'm not sure yet. I've also purchased an insulating cover to place atop the hard cover, so it will be hard to tease out my savings vs. my cost expenditures. Both items -- the spa blanket and the insulating cover, will also extend the life of my failing hard cover, so that's another bonus. One thing I notice, since adding the spa blanket, the spa PH and alkalinity seem to constantly be on the low side, which didn't happen previously. No big deal. I've only had the cover about two weeks, but so far I'm happy with it.

Our pool technician recommended this to rest on top of the water in our spa, and under our spa cover, to help keep everything clean and more efficiently maintain the water temperature. It was easy to cut to the shape of our spa It’s working out very well for us.

The ad copy writers obviously do not know what UV light is or does. It’s infrared light that heats things. Unfortunately, UV does cause many plastics to break down, and this product is one of them. Regardless of their lack of understand science, the cover does heat pool water.We live in the south and bought this for an unheated Jacuzzi which we use year round. It lasted about 8 months, I’m really being generous, we replaced it after 8 months, it probably only lasted 6 months. It faded from its original blue color to a pale blue and began to yellow and get brittle after just a few months.I can say with certainty that when it degrades, it does so very quickly. The majority of the bubbles split after 4 or 5 months and during the final few weeks that it was on the water, about half the bubbles had completely broken off and found their way into the filter system.The positive things I can say about it are that it arrived intact and, while it lasted, it really did a great job of heating the pool. If used on a pool for only a few months per year and then removed during the winter, it would probably last longer. But we really only bought it for winter use when our over night temperatures drop down into the mid 70s.The cost makes it reasonable to replace every 6 months, but still, very disappointing.

Seemed a little pricey (if you paid this price for a full pool it would be many hundreds of dollars, but that’s economy of scale for you), but I am happy with the spa blanket. I especially like the potential energy savings when I’m alone in the spa and just fold back the corner where I’m sitting, leaving the rest of the water surface protected from the cold.
