Not as ordered
I was looking forward to reading this book, but very disappointed that all of the photos inside are in poor quality black and white. Item returned.

A useful introduction to the area's flora
It's strange to read the reviews complaining (justifiably) that all the plates are in B&W as in my version all photos are in colour and the photos are largely pretty good. Species are grouped by habitat which is quite a good approach but has its drawbacks. It's not intended as a field guide of course, but I for ID purposes it's always useful to have a key of some kind, based of the characteristics of the species, for ease of reference . Although it's hardly comprehensive (how could it be)?) a good number of key species are illustrated although some of the choices are a little odd. Why bother with photos of greater knapweed, common hogweed, cowslip and yarrow for example, at the expense of photos of some of the local specialities or hard-to-identify species? Overall I think it achieves what it sets out to and it's definitely worth having if you are intending to visit, have visited or have an interest in, this spectacular area of the Pyrenees.

all pictures are B&W!!!
Description does not match contents: not a single picture (except for the cover) is in colour.

All photos in black & white. Deeply disappointed.
What arrived was a book with all the photographs in black & white! Despite the description, only the cover is in colour.Deeply disappointed both with the book I received, and the inability to get it replaced with one in colour.

The pictures are awful
The back cover of the book clearly says full color plates....NOT. and the black and white photos are pretty bad.

No color plates
I was heavily disappointed by this book. While the backcover promised me 275 full-color plates, all I got was low-quality black-and-white photos. If you know the species, you could recognize it from the photo, but if not, you're clueless. My advice: don't purchase this, waist of your money.
