Forest of Doom - Awesome!
It's difficult to find books to really hold my 2nd Grade son's attention and capture his imagination but my husband remembered he read these as a child so we bought this. Well my son is in the bedroom first thing every morning, book in hand, ready for the next part of the adventure. The interactive nature of this book keeps my son's mind active and focussed; he has to work out what steps to take next - which is great for him considering what he has read and thinking about potential consequences and outcomes of his choices. There is a whole series of these and we will be working our way through them all. We are very happy to have found them.

Book was listed as used, came with no evidence of prior reading, not a crinkle on a page or line on the spine. My son enjoys the game choosing his path as he reads.

My first Fighting Fantasy
This was the very first Fighting Fantasy game book I ever owned twenty-five years ago. I was quickly hooked, and now I'm enjoying them all over again. I really like the story and illustrations, and it isn't terribly difficult to solve. The concept of going through a book where you actually fight enemies while looking for lost items was a great idea, and it's easy to play for several hours. Drawing a map to get through the forest will help you, although there is a huge difference when playing these books in 2011....the internet. Many of these books have online finished maps and step-by step instructions to help you get through the adventure, and it's very tempting to cheat when you are having trouble advancing in the story! I also enjoyed the way the book made you feel as if you a traveling through a dangerous place, and that being risky in your game decisions are sometimes (but not always) necessary to succeed. It's also nice to be able to get these books for a great used price through Amazon.

The Illustrator for Forest of Doom was GROSS
Came in great condition, I cannot complain.One becomes lost almost instantly in the book, and it's an ugly forest you wouldn't want to be in.It has ugly characters and hideous pictures that gross you out. Even the "men" in it are all lumpy-skinned and sick.Not scary, just unsettling.The illustator for this book seemed to have a warped idea of a forest,and even what a muscled man looks like.Warts do not equal muscles.
