YAMAHA NS AW390BL 2 Way Indoor/Outdoor Speakers (Pair, Black) (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

We had several Yamaha outdoor speakers disbursed around the very large patio of our previous beach home. They worked great and produced great quality and balanced music for the almost 10 years we lived there. While we don't live in a four season climate, its summer all the time, we do get some rain and constant marine/beach weather year round. Our new home is a little further from the beach but was prewired for outdoor speakers so it was a no brainer that we purchased these Yamaha outdoor speakers. We installed them a couple of weeks ago and are very glad we did. Tone is balanced and clear. Even at high volume levels they are smooth and crisp. Bass is there but not muddy. In stereo mode the channel separation is well defined. A very good value if you can buy them before they are all sold out as this product has been discontinued. Highly recommended.

I really enjoy the richness that these speakers provide at lower volumes. We use them on our covered deck and we don't ever turn the volume too high.The instructions say that they recommend a vertical installation rather then a horizontal. I called tech support and they said that the vertical recommendation is based on better water tightness on the speaker connections, but mounting them horizonally does not effect the sound or performance. The mounting brackets do not lie completely flat against a wall due to some round indentation, which must conform to some standard, so I had to add 2 large washers behind each mounting screw to keep the speakers from wobbling from side to side. I called Yamaha and they don't have any explanation and no accessory mounting brackets to allow 360 degree rotation to allow the speakers to point in the desired direction for maximum sound. The speaker mounting brackets do rotate a few inches up and down so I get some directional sound control.

I just put these out on my deck, installing them was easy. Their just the right size, their not small but not to large to fit under an overhang. Running the speaker wires was the only pain. Overall I was very satisfied with how they sounded. They provided good bass and fairly good detail. May be lacking just a little on the highs, but thats mostly in comparison to my $2000 indoor floor speakers.They don't seem to get exceptionally loud, but certainly loud enough.Overall I was very happy to find a quality pair of speakers for outside use without having to spend much. They go well with my new Yamaha receiver.

I bought these without great expectations. Yes, the reviews are very good, but the urban balcony into which I placed them is sonically hostile. Highly reflective brick walls on three sides of a 15' x 20' area, street noise is an issue, and I don't want to bother the neighbors (too much).After a few months of listening, they sound really good. I'm impressed with the detail of music and with their ability to provide decent bass, without going "boomy" Several guests and friends have commented on their sound quality. Considering that they are usually played at a low volume, that's unexpected.With Amazon's price and free delivery, these might be one of the best purchases I've made this summer.

Placed these in two areas outside and could not believe how great the sound was! We have had compliments on the sound from the last two parties. The speakers fit very nicely into any décor and melt into the background on our white patio. They swivel which allows for better placement of sound when you are moving throughout the backyard/deck for party changes. Worked well with our Bluetooth system with easy set-up.

These are a great deal. Discontinued model with heavy discount. I just installed them on my dock powered by an inexpensive Fosi class d amp. Sounds is excellent. Bass is plentiful and tight. Mid and high range are distinct and balanced. Very powerful even with this small amp. Newly blew me into the lake.I just ordered another pair with same amp for my porch.

I have always loved the quality and sound of Yamaha, but I still do my research whenever purchasing another piece of audio, video, or any other equipment for that matter. And after clarifying our budget, visiting many websites, reading a lot of reviews, and comparing prices we decided on the Yamaha NS-AW390BL Indoor/Outdoor speakers for our deck.The speakers were below our budget, but beyond our expectations. The sound quality is superb and fills our patio and backyard so nicely that it seems our neighbors spend a lot more time outdoors with us. I will admit that the deck doesn't tremble under our feet from the bass, but what do you expect from a 6 1/2" woofer. We would recommend these speakers to anyone loves their music very crisp and precise. *****

Sound quality is excellent! Mounted them under the eave facing our pool, and the sound is crystal clear! Only complaint is that to mount them to the trim board, I had to make some adapter brackets as the OEM brackets wouldn't allow it to tuck tight up in the corner without being angled down at the floor. A couple pieces of scrap metal and a couple of lag screws, and we were golden!

great speakers, easy mount and quality sound

I bought these for use at my cottage so I could rock out by the fire. I was a little hesitant to buy speakers sight-unseen as I can be picky about sound quality, but the reviews (on Amazon and elsewhere) gave them a thumbs-up as long as you weren't expecting too much. The highs sounds pretty good but the bottom end is about what I'd expect from a speaker this size; it's there but it's not overpowering. Since my cottage sits about 30 feet from the lake, less bottom end sound means I'm not disturbing the folks on the other side from me (I'm sure they hear a little anyway). For what I need at the lake, these speakers fit the bill nicely without breaking the bank.
