Rock-solid connection – far better than Wi-Fi extenders
Bought the TP-Link TL-PA717KIT 1-Port Gigabit Powerline Starter Kit to get reliable internet out to my garden office, about 30 metres from the house, and it’s been excellent. Setup was incredibly easy — plug in, pair, and it just works. Within minutes, I had a stable, high-ish speed connection without drilling holes, running long Ethernet cables, or battling unreliable Wi-Fi extenders. The connection has been consistently solid and far more reliable than any Wi-Fi booster I’ve tried. Speeds are more than good enough for work, video calls, streaming, and general day-to-day use, and the stability is the real win here. If you need dependable internet in an outbuilding or room far from the router, this is a simple, effective solution. Highly recommended.

Works well
BT put in fibre broadband and changed the position of my router to the quickest, cheapest place at the back of my old rambling house with thick stone walls. So no TV at front of house any more. Rudely told to get a booster. So looked at my options and chose this system. Easy to install and works well but remember it needs yet another plug socket near router and another by TV. Make sure it's all on the same wiring circuit - look in consumer unit (fuse box to you and me) and see that you only have one switch for 'downstairs sockets' for example. BT tried to sell me a much more complicated and expensive system. Whole experience with BT/Openreach very poor.

Ok for most applications
Bought these as home office does not have an ethernet port for computer, and wifi can be a little intermittent. They were very simple to install, with no issues of them finding each other, and build quality was good. As expected with this solution, the speed was not what i get to the house, but was stable at around 80-100mbps through multiple tests, so would likely serve most connections. Key for me however was connection stability for online gaming which is where this product did not meet my needs. Even after testing different configurations in my home (new build) I would experience periods of packet loss, peaking around 4%. For 98% of applications this is not an issue and can be very dependant in my home wiring and other interference. I would still recommend these for anyone requiring a stable connection where wifi or cabled ethernet is not an option.

Brilliant piece of kit
I bought this product to extend my wifi to my garage about 80 meters from the house. I have a number of smart plugs in the house linked to Alexa and I wanted to add one in the garage. This device does exactly what it says it does, i.e. extends the existing wifi down a mains cable. Some older type extenders create a separate subnet remotely which complicates connectivity but this one doesn't, which is great. I can't comment on data rates as I only ever send a small amount of data remotely. One minor irritation is the operating instructions which aren't clear. The device configures itself easily - i.e. plug the sender into the router using ethernet and then pair the sender and receiver, but the description of what the lights mean is unclear, especially as the labels on the lights are difficult to see. In addition, the receiver goes into sleep mode after about 1 minute (which is great!) but I thought it was loosing its connection. I would certainly recommend this product. It has been working well for over 1 month

It just works (albeit with a small drop compared to conventional solutions)
It was easy to set up. Not that far from router so can't really say anything about the range. It never drops and does a steady 80mbps. (For context, a 25m long cable was used temporarily and it stayed at a steady 100mbps but the wire went all over the house) Didn't get a WiFi version so can't comment about that. No compatibility problems at all and as said earlier, easy to set up and it just works. Overall, there was a small drop in speed but it was a great solution to having a lack of connectivity and was easy to set up with no issues.

Failed after 8 months
Although this adapter worked well I cannot fully endorse them since one of the pair suffered a complete power down and was as dead as the proverbial dodo. I find the process of claiming for a replacement under warranty to be apparently slow and unwieldy, so have ordered afresh. Here's hoping that the next pair are more reliable.

Great product, save time and mess.
I'm very pleased with these adaptors, they are plug and play, I have installed a few of them in different rooms, they eliminate the need to run messy ethernet cables around the house, instead using the house internal power cables, which although not as fast as a direct connection to the router, is still more than enough bandwidth for the devices I have them connected too, 4k cloud gaming on my MacBook, on smart TV's etc. I would recommend if you decide to go this route to connect them directly to a wall socket, rather than through a multiple plug adaptor, as doing so will impact speed. I also understand the speed you will get depends on the condition of your electoral wiring, etc, but even so it's worth giving them a test run to find out.

Only works on the same electric circuit so you might as well just buy an ethernet cord for its price and run it to your device
