works excellent, instant start. push button to lock torch on, has lock out button to stop unintentional lights. very nice torch, i did hesitate as price is on spendy side, but well worth it so far. the flame is not really adjustable down lower, only down side if you need that. it rips full all time.

Before buying this on Amazon, I read many of the reviews for the product, including many from seemingly qualified plumbers discussing how to sweat copper and so forth. Let me just say that I have absolutely no professional need for a blowtorch and will not presume to discuss this product's utility in that context. To my layman's eye, it seems very sturdy and has worked well. What I will say is that I have tried a few blowtorches in various settings and this one has functioned flawlessly for several months - including resolving a problem on another blowtorch: the lack of pressure regulation which causes the blowtorch to go out when aimed downward or inverted. Without this feature it is next to impossible to sear steak, glaze creme brulee, or do other things made more fun with a blowtorch that require a flame directed downward. This torch is able to used in any position, including upside down. Just today I did an experiment with my kids to verify that older pennies have a much higher copper content and thus get hot but don't melt, while newer pennies are mostly zinc and melt in seconds. Several reviewers noted that the internal ignition mechanism stopped working after a while. That hasn't happened with mine (yet) and it always lights on the first or second try. You can also light it externally with a standard flint spark igniter - the kind your father or grandfather would have used (I also use these for my gas stove as I'm too lazy to fix the sparker and they are more reliable, cheaper, and last longer than the long-necked butane lighters). If this ever happens to me, it won't affect my ability to use it, but for professional use you can see how the ability to quickly activate and deactivate the torch on selected spots would be key. ****UPDATE JAN 2015**** I try to periodically update my reviews to provide some insights on how a product has (or hasn't) held up over time. I've now been using this blowtorch regularly for about 2 years and it has functionally flawlessly. The push-button trigger still ignites on the first or second try and the pressure regulation continues to let me use the blowtorch in any orientation. WARNING: once you start keeping a blowtorch handy, you are going to start using it on a lot more than you ever imagined.

I received this today. So far so good. It is sturdily built and the igniter works well. I’m mainly going to use it to help start fires 🔥 in our fireplace and backyard fire pit, so I didn’t need an adjustable flame and opted for the TS 4000 over the TS 8000. But I would have been happy either way.

This may be the last torch tip you need. It is far superior quality over the standard one you may find at the big box store. Made of all metal so it won't snap or chip like the plastic ones may. So far I have had no issues with it and it ignites great and reliably. My only complaint may be that you can't adjust the flame rate with a dial or something like other torch tips can. You can lightly hold the trigger after igniting at half throttle but it is difficult to hold it steady at that rate. However I don't do much soldering with this so I am not sure if that is actually a downside or not. Overall I would recommend if you just need a reliable torch head that won't break easily.

Its very squeaky when used at full capacity but it applied heat like a dream a lot faster and with less fuel than my normal torch head. Very sturdy and made of nice material

Ahhh, the Bernzomatic of days gone by. Been using this brand for many years and have always been satisfied. The one that this replaced was easily 8 years old but it fell off my workbench and broke a brass tube so it was time for a new one. This unit is exactly the same in functionality as the old one and it works 100%. Now I'm happy again.

I paid a bit more for this name brand and I can already tell it is better than what I had that fell apart after a few uses.

I bought this as a replacement of my burns.Amatic t s four thousand of twenty years. Something happened to it that it felt to ignite.... no, idea why?But it was twenty years old and had tons of burn time on it. After a week without it, I realized that I cannot continue my life without having this. I literally use it to start all of my fires, My barbecue everything. the tank seems to last forever. Sold separately of course.
