Excellent book
Was just what I needed. My son can read well but doesn’t always understand what he has read. This has different ways of assessing his understanding. Great buy

Excellent resource that helps children feel successful!
Love this collection of reading comprehensions that covers such a wide range for year 5 - fair trade, planets, mountains and ordnance survey maps to name a few which helps with the broad and balanced curriculum we all need to be providing now.Love the ability to teach the skill then allow the children to practice that skill. The ability to read the comprehension which is appropriate in length and vocabulary was great. Literally the children finished Dorje comprehension and felt proud of themselves - that’s not to say it’s overly simple at all. But the chance to apply the skill was well earned! The skills being mastered align with the reading domains set out by the National Curriculum - I know we don’t like having to kick boxes but this set of compressions support the teaching needed and are a great resources for preparing children for the types of question styles they’ll possibly come across in the all dreaded SATs.Well worth buying and definitely worth using!

A great buy, engaging AND useful!
Fantastic resource for year 5. Very easy to pick up and use for a targeted group. Children I’ve used it with have been able to be successful, resulting in increased confidence and engagement. The vocabulary is pitched well and the activities are a good range to support retrieval in particular. The texts are interesting and overall a great buy. Just waiting to find out which year group I’m in next year so I can get the relevant one but if I’m in still in year 5 I’ll definitely buy the 8-9 to support differentiation.Overall, a great buy!

A great resource to support the teaching of comprehension.
A diverse set of non-fiction texts that are likely to fit in with many subjects taught throughout the year- these are challenging and interesting for the children. The skills being mastered align with the reading domains set out by the National Curriculum and are a great resources for preparing children for the types of question styles they’ll come across in the SATs.We’ve only used one of the texts so far, but the children enjoyed being able to practise a specific reading skill- this has definitely impacted their confidence in tackling similar comprehension questions.A great resource to support the teaching of comprehension.

A fantastic resource!
I have been using lots of the vocabulary ninja resources in my Year 5 class (including the vocabulary ninja book) and this book has been a brilliant addition to support valuable reading skills. The activities are carefully considered to support specific skills and the children really enjoy them! Have already recommended to my colleagues in other year could - looking forward to seeing more resources like this.

High quality resource
This is a brilliant resource. The texts are a good length and the questions scaffold up, covering a range of critical reading skills. As with all of the resources from Vocabulary Ninja, these are incredibly well thought out and are a great asset to teaching reading skills.

An excellent resource!
I bought comprehension ninja after using vocabulary ninja in the classroom. The children like both concepts and look forward to their weekly comprehension homework as it practices the same skills each week to help them in their reading groups and during tests.
