The perfect Yoshi game
This is an amazing game and worth buying a Wii U just for this game (Nintendo has announced that this along with no other Wii U games will be ported to switch - the Wii U games that haven't been ported are now only on Wii U). The game itself is as challenging as Yoshi's Island but the controls are much easier to deal with. It's a tribute to that old game while also being its own thing. The art style is great and the graphics are amazing for a console that came out in the 2010s. There's a lot of replayability to it because if you're a completionist, like I am, you'll be going into levels multiple times to get the flowers, stamps (gems), yarn, and completing each level with full health which gives you a star for that course. Of course the flowers and yarn are probably the most important collectibles because flowers unlock special courses in each world and the yarn will grant you access to different colored Yoshis (some of which are really cool even for a hardcore green Yoshi fan) after each level but only if you get all 5 yarn bundles in each level. I had actually played Yoshi's crafted world on Switch in Mellow Mode and decided to do this game in classic mode. I think classic mode is perfect for this game because the game itself is not hard to complete as far as just clearing courses but the challenge comes from the different strategies and puzzle solving skills you need to complete at least one stage per world. Each of the 6 worlds have their own distinct personalities. Each level has a lot of personality and game mechanics that are so well designed that you are slowly introduced to new ways of playing the game at the start of each level and then it gets harder as the level goes on. Then you take those lessons and apply them to the next level and so on. Really well designed and I am not a big gamer. I'm a very casual gamer who got sucked into this game because of how great it looked and how cute Yoshi looks made of yarn. I really only picked up a Switch and Yoshi's Crafted World because of my daughter who wanted to play it but couldn't because she's young and just had me play while she watched and then I discovered Wooly World on YouTube and was hooked. I had to have this game. Compared to Crafted world this game is a lot more challenging but more fun because of it. Both games have their charm and I love both but Wooly World has a slight edge of Crafted because it seemed just a little more challenging from the start whereas Crafted gets challenging at the end but to an absurd degree. Both games have a lot of replay value. I have now completed every level and gotten every collectible and am now going through the special stages that I skipped. After every achievement new things are unlocked like the scrapbook theater which lets you view enemies and listen to the soundtrack as well as watch any cut scene you like and the boss tent which has you go through each boss but at a higher difficulty level and without having to run through their castles to get to them. For instance each boss will move faster and faster with each round you do in the boss tent. But even for someone who just wants to play the levels from start to finish the game has a way of luring you into collecting things and finding hidden items and platforms all on its own. I'll sometimes be trying to run quickly through a level just to get the star for full health and get sidetracked because I want to collect some hidden item even though I collected it on a previous run. Overall a great game for adults and children alike. Tons of fun and honestly worth buying a dead console just to play this game. Amazing Yoshi game that draws heavily from Yoshi's Island, improves on some aspects of Yoshi's Story's abilities while dropping a lot of what made that game bad, and also adds its own unique style so it really is a continuation or evolution of Yoshi rather than just Yoshi's Island with better graphics or a good version of Yoshi's story. This game and Crafted World are great and the mellow mode is super handy if you want a more stress free, easy way to play because it gives Yoshi wings and you can just fly wherever you like and avoid enemies and easily get to hidden places in every level. But I recommend classic mode because it's more fun that way and the game isn't that difficult to begin with.

Good Yoshi game for first timers and family. Not great for avid fans or gamers.
Good game, not great. As a avid Nintendo fan, I've always loved all the Yoshi games. This game is a good example of the 'great idea, but only decent execution' issue. The game is beautiful! Very creative and fun in the design and feel of the game. Yoshi + wool? Come on! That's adorable. However, behind the design and cutesy art style, the core and substance of the game runs a bit shallow compared to other Yoshi games. Keep in mind that I'm reviewing this compared to all the other Yoshi games. If this is your first time playing a Yoshi game then you'll most likely enjoy it without knowing that it could have been so much better. The levels are pretty average, mostly taking advantage of the art and design instead of cleverness and creativeness. Most of the levels are similar with one or two things added here and there so it isn't exactly the same. A lot of the good things are only in very few levels and should be implemented more. Most of the game's levels are predominantly a left-to-right style compared to the previous games that had more versatile levels that isn't locked to left-to-right. Me and my fiancee played through two worlds and nothing in the stages stood out to us. We both agreed that the best thing about this game is not the gameplay itself but rather the side content and features. There are five 'yarn' bundles in each level. If you collect them all in the game, after the game you'll be able to stitch them together to form a new Yoshi that you can use. For example, you can unlock a 'cow' Yoshi that will be black and white with a pink nose! You can then slowly collect these 'skins' that you can use whenever you want. Our favorite thing about the game is finding out what the next Yoshi skin will be and that curiosity keeps us churning through the levels and finding all the secrets even though we don't quite enjoy the levels themselves. Overall I still get to have fun and spend time with my fiancee and that's what it's all about. Pros: - Art and Design are beautiful and fun to look at. - Yoshi - Creative wooly concept. - Yoshi skins! - 2-player co-op mode. - lot's of play-time and levels. Cons: - Too easy, even for new players. - Could be more creative in level layout design. - Slightly repetitive in some levels. - relies too much on the art design to carry the game.

Yoshi's Wooly World
Yoshi's Wooly World for the Wii U is an easy to play and relaxing adventure for people of all ages. 2-player mode is also available, allowing the player to play with a friend, allowing two times the fun. Wooly World is full of content, and I have had it for a month and I'm only on World 3. The graphics are incredible and crisp, and the yoshi's are just adorable. There are tons of stuff to collect throughout the levels, including 5 flowers and yarn spools, and 20 Miiverse stamps that are hidden in the gems throughout the levels. If you collect all the yarn spools for a level, you unlock a new yoshi! I always want all the yoshi colors whenever I play, so I constantly go back to a level and try to find all the secrets. If you manage to retrieve all the flowers throughout the world, you unlock a bonus stage. (The bonus stages are really hard, so be prepared for a challenge.) Overall, I am pleased with the game, and my only complaint is that sometimes it is hard to play with another person. The camera goes crazy and will follow one yoshi and not the other, and I'm usually the one who keeps dying every time the camera cuts. That sometimes can get super frustrating, but honestly that is the only flaw. This game would be perfect for any children because of it's easy game play. Mellow mode also allows the yoshi to fly with wings, making the game even easier. Nintendo has finally brought our green dinosaur friend back to a main title, and they did a superb job! Thanks Nintendo!

Yoshi's Woolly World on Wii U is a visually stunning platformer that transforms Yoshi’s world into a charming, yarn-filled adventure. The game’s unique art style, where everything looks like it’s made of wool, is both creative and delightful. Gameplay follows traditional Yoshi platforming mechanics, with the ability to eat enemies, throw yarn balls, and explore levels for hidden collectibles. The game strikes a nice balance between being accessible for casual players while offering challenges for those who seek to collect everything. Its relaxing vibe, coupled with inventive level design, makes it a must-play for platformer fans.

THIS GAME IS SO CUTE. I was so happy I pre-ordered it, because it showed up at my door right on time. I've been playing it a ton and am nowhere near done. The special level on the second world is so hard, it's kind of amazing. This is a truly a game that can be enjoyed by all skill levels. Great graphics, great gameplay, fun puzzles. One of my favourite Nintendo releases in recent memory.
