Maybe don't buy used
I bought one in "used - like new" condition, and it burnt out around 2 months after installing it. I can't be too upset since I only paid around 8 dollars, but it does mean I have to replace it again, which is a huge pain to do, since I have larger hands.

Working well
Looks identical to OEM part. Working well so far.

Works perfectly, feels built to last
I was impressed with how high quality the part felt. It did take some serious finagling to work my old corroded resistor out of its slot and even more to fit this one in. One purchaser said it was too small, i actually found the resistor to be slightly larger than my 94 town car’s original resistor and had to shave a little bit of plastic down on the edge to be able to fit it in. The other reviewer with a 94 town car’s review here was helpful in mentioning that the wires went in the same order as the old harness. Didn’t have to remove any hoses or drain anything, which was nice. Assuming the quality control did its job I should be good to go you

Try this first, before the climate control unit.
I was just about to order a replacement climate control unit, thinking that my strange fan speed problem had to do with the control unit itself. After more internet sleuthing, it seemed like this "resistor", as called, may be the key to my woes. It was certainly less expensive and worth a go, so I had to try this first. I can't say it was easy, but I accomplished the task without removing any coolant hoses, and just turning myself into a pretzel to get at one of the mounting screws. Took my time, making sure not to force things too much, and was very happy when all of the climate control functionality went back to normal. Only a month in, but in Los Angeles the AC is on pretty much all the time, and I have total control again with the fan control and speed adjustments.

Very difficult to install, look for videos online. Never knew why my fan would only be on low or high. This fixed it so works at all varying levels of air flow

Dorman parts 👎
Dorman parts of old are no longer I guess.I replaced this resistor on a neighbors 03 Grand Marquis & it had a hitch in a couple days after install then stopped altogether 2 weeks later! Amazon as good as always warranty swapped it in no time. The replacement was bad RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX! This sent me down a rabbit hole (I knew in my bones I didn't need to do) of wiring diagrams, checking wire resistance, etc. until it was determined that it HAD to be defective. Swapped once again for another known brand starting with S & so far so good. I have to say the new part side by side looked & felt more substantial also. I'll say again, Dorman of old is no longer I will never buy another part with that name attached.

While the part itself seems to work fine, for my application the electrical connection from the ...
I'm only giving this 3 stars because it was not an exact replacement for my application, there were no wiring instructions, and all of the wires are black. I needed to replace this part on a 94 Town Car. While the part itself seems to work fine, for my application the electrical connection from the car had to be replaced with the connector shown in the picture. I had hoped it would have been plug and play. So, I had to cut the 5 wires and attempt to use the provided barrel connectors to connect the vehicle wiring and the new connector together. Luckily, the connector wires were in the same order as the old connector so I only had to try once. Black/Red on the bottom larger wires. The 3 smaller wires matched up with the red, purple, and red with white stripe for the smaller wires. The barrel connectors didn't seem to be the correct size for the wires I was splicing together and I ended up getting some quick connect blade splicers at the auto parts store.

wires not color coded
replaced defective resistor with the new one and it actually works. It's been installed in my 1991 town car for a week now and it works exactly like the original. Only downside is the 5 wires are not color coded. You have to be very careful to connect the wires from the car to the wiring on this module exactly ! This module lasted over a month and reverted to high speed which its supposed to do for safety reasons.I notified amazon and with no questions asked they sent me a replacement.Only problem was they did not tell me to send back the defective one and I got a 30 day notice to send back the defective one or I will be charged full price for the replacement. ! the replacement is working good so far on all speeds.

Works and replacing the wiring is optional
Didn't even need the wiring harness, handy to have if I had broken the clip, climate control in my 2000 mercury grand marquis is back to working 100%
