Dollhouse Review: A new kind of psycho, for readers who love their gore and fear with wit and a REAL story!!!! - Tim Miller has yet to disappoint. His characters are consistently well developed, while not becoming trite and marginalized. He makes both his villains and victims people you want to know more about. In the genre of extreme horror, the protagonists, victims, "good guys", are usually nothing more than gore fodder. Most writers in this genre don't make the good guys realistic or likeable, interesting or more than just imaginary bags of flesh to be torn asunder. Often we lose any interest in the story, because there isn't one. This book is fast paced enough I could not put it down, yet interesting enough I found myself re-reading parts to make sure I got the whole picture. It was a truly great book. I became a fan of Miller when I found most writers in the genre to be a let down. Gore, sex, but no story, no substance. Miller makes even, especially his villains, fascinating. They could be anyone you know, and they are not just random hillbillies intent on eating you and raping what's left. If Miller DID create such a character, he'd develop it so well it would be unrecognizable from most books of that kind. In fact, Miller has gone into cannibalism and other such topics that have been beat to death, yet when he writes it it becomes new. Dollhouse is an exceptional book of a man and his depravity. Of how anyone could fall victim to a human monster...maybe survive. His "bad guy" is incredibly well developed, and goes above and beyond the usual psycho this genre often makes so similar. PLEASE!!! If you love horror, read this book. Once you do, you'll be a fan of this authors work. Whether a realistic killer, demons, or even clowns on a rampage, Miller makes the reader go on a fantastic ride. You will not ever regret buying one of these books. Dollhouse is a truly scary, fascinating book about a man from both the view of his own mind and the minds of those he torments. Absolutely recommend!!!!!! Review: Horrifying! - I really enjoyed this book. If you're in the mood for suspense, grit, and gore, this is the book for you. Four stars because some parts seemed implausible, but otherwise a good, fast read. Don't buy if you're easily offended. When you buy Tim's books, you need to be prepared for a wild and nasty ride!

Premise was great! Gore was (wonderfully) nauseating! One big complaint...
This was my first experience reading a Tim Miller novel. I bought it on recommendation from Amazon and after reading the synopsis, I was certainly intrigued. I finished the book in one sitting tonight. The gore was great fun, and overall I truly enjoyed the story. However... I had just a few small issues with the book, and Tim, if you read this review, please don't take what I'm about to say as me impugning your work as a writer or your very vivid imagination, or that I wasn't very much entertained by the book. Just some constructive criticism coming from a total book junkie. First, the book felt extremely rushed and the writing style felt slightly...juvenile. The storyline was so imaginative, I wish more time had been spent on development of the three main characters, and that the story had taken just a little bit more time to unfold; the tension and fear needed a chance to build before the gore-gasms. Second (and I feel like a jerk saying this so bluntly), the grammar, spelling, and punctuation were absolutely atrocious. The tense kept changing mid-sentence from present tense to past tense, and that by itself really interrupted the flow of the story. I'm pretty sure you self-publish, but you may want to find someone you trust to give your books a preliminary read and to make the necessary grammar corrections. Anyway, the book was a fun read; but I would have loved the story to be longer, to dig deeper into the psyches and back-stories of these characters a little more, and let the tension and fear build up a lot more before you let loose the splatter and gore (don't hold back on that part of it though!!)

What can I say? I love Tim Miller!
I have read a bunch of this Authors work and so when this came out I HAD to read it....AND I DID! Before anyone thinks it is biased because I have already read many of this authors works I can honestly say a few previously written themes were not for me but I have never not enjoyed reading one and this has not changed today! There have been many previous predators from other books that I automatically say "hey this guy is a donkey's rear end through and through" but there was a kind side to this one (even if he is psychotic) and even through the deranged actions I still liked seeing the characters inner conflict! I can also say that I did not see the end going as it did which was something much different than other stories by this author for his heroes and heroines! If anyone has read other books by this author they know the amount of gruesome can be stomach churning. For some reason while of course it was still gruesome as heck I didn't cringe as much as usual which means this book had a great balance between story line and gore which many readers will love!!! You still need a rather prepared stomach if you are a gore weakling! ;) This is definitely a good read for horror lovers and I can not wait for the new upcoming Tim Miller stories...I love the snippets of what is to come regarding other new books this author is working on! You can find one at the end of this story!!! HURRY UP I NEED MY HORROR FIX! ;)

Truly Twisted, (in a good way) With An Even More Twisted Ending…
I’ll be honest, I hated this books ending, BUT, that doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy the book. I’d like to clarify there was nothing WRONG with the ending, it just wasn’t’ the one I was hoping for. That’s on me. Now, on to the book. It’s genuinely creepy and has some really deep psychologically moments. It’s also an extreme horror book, so if you’re not into that, don’t get it. If you ARE into that, you’re going to love this book. Lester is everything you fear in a villain; quiet, unassuming, non-threatening, and dangerous. He’d be scary enough if he just killed you, but that’s not what he does. I’m not going to give awy too much of the plot, but this author has made a fan out of me.

Really enjoyed this story and as usual, Tim Miller is great at writing action and having all hell break loose. It keeps you gripped till the end.

The story has a really a cool plot. Anyhow, having read other books from Tim, this seems a little bit too flat for such a good story. Typical fluent reading, but the characters are quite unauthentic and also remarkable colorless. While reading, you never get really connected to any of them. Also the plot rushes through most of the events without getting into the details which seem to be necessary to get a good picture of the characters and their motivations. Yes, there is blood and gore, sex and filth. But it's somehow halfhearted.

Miller's Dollhouse starts off well with good solid character development of the main character and the villain is better drawn. The plot moves at a good pace and he masters building tension very well. The various plot turns are handled masterfully. There is a glimmer of hope for the antagonist but sometimes minute details get in the way when dealing with forensics and criminal psychiatry that limits some believability to some small instances. This does not take away from the story but causes a slight hole in the plot. Miller is an extremely talented writer and at times this does come through strongly when developing his characters and plot. It sometimes let down by the need to rush through the action segments which if pace was loosen just a smidge could bring his stylised writing to the next level. Dollhouse is well written and Miller has upped his game in this twisted psychological terrorised world that he has developed. The action pieces are sick and often perverted run a very opaque manner but for the core audience, this will fit extremely comfortable in this genre. This is a cut above what you would normally find in this subgenre of horror and Miller is top of his game here. The main characters are flushed out lifting from the cardboard cut outs normally found in this genre. Jodi is exceptionally well written with a believable pathos. The ending is either positive or negative depending on how you like your endings which won't please everyone. Personally, I kind of liked the ending but might have preferred the alternative. Saying this, I do respect the choice here. Miller is a talent in the extreme horror field and does show a high amplitude in his writing which grows from strength to strength. I am eager to see where is writing goes as I can see him breakaway and coming out with an extreme horror novel that could be the opus in this genre. Dollhouse is a quick read and enjoyable and is highly recommended. It is extremely violent and if you like this type of horror then this is definitely for you. If you are new to this genre, then this is definitely a great place to start. Working on multiple levels, Dollhouse is a definite qualified read to see how it is done.

Good book, thoroughly enjoyed it. This is my kind of book. Read it in one sitting and the ending isn't as you would expect.
