The Tower of Nero: The Trials of Apollo, Book 5

Spoiler Alert!!!!!!
I loved this book!! I'm a little sad that Apollo becomes a god. I cannot wait to see where Rick Riordan takes Nico and Will's quest. My top priority however is this: Did anyone else catch the parts about Kane Chronicles and Magnus Chase? If you didn't, lemme lay it out for you. The mansion Rachel saw in Brooklyn was the headquarters for the 21 Nome. The penguin who was sighted on the balcony was one of Felix's penguins. The meeting Chiron was occupied by with a cat and a severed head. The cat is Bast, guardian of Sadie and Carter Kane. The severed head is Mimir, Hearthstone and Blitzen's former employer. Chiron speaks of one problem which concerns three different pantheons. I have been racking my brains and I cannot think of a single villan who could overlap multiple mythologies besides Setne, who is imprisoned inside of a snow globe. I am not sure if the problem will have the old protagonists or if Riordan will introduce old ones. Personally, I'm hoping for the old ones. I am not entirely sure whether Rick will introduce Nico's quest or the collective problem of the three mythologies. I am ridiculously excited and in a few years, when the book has beedn published, you can all read this post and I will comment 'I told you so!' :D ;)I loved Apollo's descent into mortality. He grew to be more human and we were there to watch his journey. I loved how the characters were described by Apollo, especially Nico and I loved Piper's new relationship. I was a bit disappointed that not all predictions came true, such as Grover's prediction that they would see each other before Apollo regained his immortality. As far as I can tell, they didn't see each other again for the rest of the series. Overall it was a great story and I loved it!!

The perfect ending for this 14 yr journey
I've been reading the camp half-blood series since 2006 when I was in 6th grade. I grew up right alongside Percy and the gang. Throughout the years I've shared their laughs, tears, fear, and hope. While I'm sad to see the books end, I'm so proud of how far the series and characters have come. Our heroes and their stories will continue to live on in our hearts. Thank you Rick Riordan for the amazing adventures!

A good close
This review contains spoilers, please take that into consideration.I liked the humor and pacing and overall it was a good close to the series.Apollo learning humanity and the joy and suffering it often comes with it. How we can still fight even when we think we’re at out last and lowest. About how you don’t need to mold yourself to the people that surround you and that you definitely don’t have to take their abuse towards you. That you can have friends and family (found or blood) to help you when you need it.The final battle being of just Apollo and Python, as he had to regain his godhood while maintaining his humanity. Becoming a demigod for a few moments. Truly being one of them and the perils they face.I loved the little Easter eggs about the new series and the little glimpses of the ones already existing. That being said.I’m aware that Jason’s death was supposed to make Apollo learn about how you could have your whole life ahead of you and still get the short end of the stick. About heroes and suffering and how gods tend to brush demigods apart and other things I’m probably forgetting. But in this book... I don’t know, I don’t think I have the exact words to describe what I felt. Jason’s death felt overused to the point that it felt like an excuse more than anything else.

five stars? I don't know...
First off, the pacing felt quick. Maybe thats because I came back from 500 to 600 paged novels, but still. I felt like it should have been longer, the battles and events more legthy and more detailed, given that this book (probably) is the final book set in the Percy Jackson universe. I had mixed feelings about this piece of work. It just didn't give me the feelings I expected myself to have. Writing this review just after finishing this book, I'm feeling 'Wait, it should be longer.' and 'Great work..but a bit lacking for my taste.' Personally, I felt like TOA series were good in overall. Good, mind you, not perfect or anything. Although it was interesting to see a god turned to mortal and embarking on a journey, this book itself...I don't know. I was a bit disappointed to be honest. I felt like there should have been a major character death(besides jason) to make the story emotional, the battle more intense. For a book that was supposex to close the series, I fet like Riordan could have done more, made the book more emtional and stuff.Four stars for the book. Good, but could have been better. Now if you'd excuse me, I'll go cry tears of sadness that the series is over

Good Ending
The only things I didn't like about this book were things i didn't like in the Heroes of Olympus. I always thought Jason and Piper were very boring, so when Jason's death was used so much, I never really felt anything. I think Apollo was really interesting and I thought his story was done well. Also, I have liked Nico in these books and I want to see more of him. One thing I don't like is Hazel and Frank being praetors. Reyna seemed like a real leader but Frank is just a goofball and Hazel just doen't feel like an authority figure. Okay, that's enough ranting. I liked this book as a conclusion to the Trials of Apollo series and hopefully not a conclusion to the Percy Jackson universe. I enoyed reading this book but not as much as the fist two.

Lester Papadopoulos !!!
First Impression- Just finished the book. Waited so long for this. Bit disappointed at the beginning but the final few chapters make up for it.Characters- Let me tell you 'Lester Papadopoulos' was never my choice for favorite hero but right after I finished this book, I realized he's up there with the others -- Percy, Nico, Annabeth, Grover, Jason, Piper, Leo, Frank, Hazel, Reyna, Thalia, Rachel, Luke, Will .. I'm going to miss them all. The final two books was more centered around Lester, his emotions, his struggles and his relation with others. Yes, Nico was allowed some lime light (given the fanbase he owns). I was a bit disappointed that Meg was sort of the first runner up to Lester. She lacked any major say in the final stand. Rachel had a decisive part as the Pythia. Will is also involved quite a bit. I loved all the dad son interactions b/w Apollo and Austin. Even Arrow of Dodona had a part to play. I didn't like Lu much. I thought she lacked conviction, a perfect backstory like the one we got for Zoe nightshade might have made her hero image convincing.Plot- I'm not going to give away spoilers. The first few chapters dragged on. There were few repetitive boring iterations of how messed up Lester used to be (I happily skipped). We had enough of that rubbish ! Lester was a dummy but he had earned my respect ever since the tyrant's tomb. Apollo's encounter with Python is a bit underwhelming. I enjoyed all the funny parts in the Apollo-Nero encounter in the throne room. What I really enjoyed was how Riordan wrapped up story of all the 7 demigods from heroes of Olympus (even Jason makes an appearance).Overall- Its a book worth reading if you want to feel at peace after 10 years of Percy Jackson. You'll feel like you've grown up just like Lester. However, I think tyrant's tomb is still my favorite in this series.(except perhaps the last few chapters)Future-I guess we'll get to see Nico and Will in their journey to Tartarus. I was so glad when I read they're talking about rescuing BOB(in other words 'Iapetus'). Perhaps Bob will get to tell the stars Hi after all. I'm sure rick is done with all the others characters, we may get few cameos from our favorite heroes, other than that he wraps up their stories in this book. Besides there were some hints on a collaboration b/w diff Rick Riordan universes and some mentioning of Celtic Gods. We'll see what he has in store for us. Already excited !!

Still crying
I turned to the last page and immediately started crying because I knew it was the end and these books have meant so so much to me. For the last I don’t know how many years there’s always been a new book in the Percy Jackson universe to look forward to, and it’s completely insane that that’s not necessarily true anymore.Possibly a proper review to come but there are a lot of emotions right now so we’ll see
