I have crimped wire before but never anything bigger than 8 AWG. I needed to crimp 2/0 cables for a lithium battery setup. You just lay this thing on a work table or the ground, dial in your size, and crimp! There are retractable arms that give you leverage. The nice thing about the dial is although there are markings for the wire gauge you are crimping, you may need to go little tighter or looser and you can do so with this tool. Today was the first time crimping large 2/0 wires and it worked great, no fuss, no troubles. One thing I will say that you do have to think about before purchasing this tool: If you need to perform huge crimps in tight locations or in a situation where you cannot place this tool on a flat surface, then this tool will not be for you.

This is a seriously heavy duty, well made tool. It's not very precise, but that doesn't matter so much for most of the large lugs it will be used on. The base is heavy enough that you do not need to worry about it sliding around on a workbench while you position the lug and wire. This makes it easier to use (in my opinion) than the lighter model TEMCo Lug Crimper Tool TH0012 - 8 AWG - 0000 AWG(4/0) DIELESS Indent Electrical Battery Terminal Cable Wire 5 YEAR WARRANTY . So far I have used this to crimp 2 and 4 AWG welding wire, as well as 8 AWG battery cable. All sizes worked well. This is an indent crimper and works great on copper wire. For aluminum wire you might be better off with a hexagonal crimper because it will put even pressure on the wire from all sides. Shipping from TEMCo was just as fast as Amazon Prime would have been, I placed my order and received the item in 2 days. These guys do not mess around and order shipped out fast. I built my off grid solar system myself and when it came time to crimp the lugs on to the #2 AWG battery cables this device worked flawlessly. This crimper basically dimples one side of a lug but the crimp holds tight and I've had no issues with them heating up or coming loose. What is really awesome is the manufacturers commitment to their products and their customers. They will warranty this item for any reason or even allow you return it at any time. I will be keeping this as it should provide me with a lifetime of service. If you are the absolute anal type this crimper does not crimp using a hex die so you will not get the nice factory looking crimp but if you can set aside the perfectionist attitude it will provide everything you need and more!

Make your life easy and spend the extra dollars on this you will be happy you did. Easy to use and does a superb job every time on all the specified sizes. If you plan on doing more than a couple of crimps just ignore the cheap options - you will be happy you did.

I wasted time and money on cheaper crimpers before buying this one. Learn from my mistake: just get the TEMCo and be done with it. The TH0020 works exactly as advertised. I'm using it to rewire two classic 4x4 projects, and it crimps lugs cleanly without any issues. The cheap tools I tried first either didn't crimp properly or felt like they'd break after a few uses. If you're doing automotive electrical work - especially older vehicles where you need reliable connections - don't mess around with bargain tools. This crimper does the job right the first time. Bottom line: Buy once, cry once. The TEMCo is worth it.

This was a game changer for me. I had been using one of those cheap Chinese hexagonal crimpers and it was garbage, it would not crimp tight enough, or leave very sharp “wings”. It was not a good choice but that’s what happens when you cheap. I had done research on some of the “better” crimpers out there and on several websites this model kept coming up. I have zero regrets, this thing is amazing! You get nice solid cold welds every time. You have the ability to adjust the size based on wire gauge, however you can simply adjust the knob to add a little more or take away some depending on your ring terminal or wire size etc.. I colored in the marker line with a white china marker so I could see it more clearly. The difference between some gauges is very subtle. Nice you can dial it in. I’ve used it on 8AWG down to 1/0 with no issue. It doesn’t require a ton of strength either. No fluids to worry about spilling out over time. Great warranty too. I bought some of the companies ring terminals figured they would be designed for this tool. They were great. To be fair I’ve used other ring terminals with the same great results. This tool is so far superior to others, I have gone back and redone many of my previous crimps. Worth the extra cash to get a quality tool like this one!

This mechanical crimper makes light work of medium to large sized terminal lugs. It has extendable handles to increase the force of lever action. It’s a solid product that should last a lifetime. Very happy with my purchase

This lug Tool crimp really does the job. Well constructed, and easy to clamp in a vice so you can operate it one handed. If you tired of cheap junk, this tool does the job.
