Such a Welcome Guided Break
I’m on the book launch team for, “The 40 Day Social Media Fast.” I didn’t do the fast perfectly but I’m learning how much better it is to make a little progress in something rather than not doing it at all because I didn’t do it perfectly. :)I’ve known for a long time that I don’t interact with social media healthily...I’m a compulsive scroller...and I hate it. The last thing I want is to set an example for my sons and for my world of having my face in my phone all the time. I don’t want to be addicted to anything, even if it can seem innocuous. Almost immediately on taking a break from “the socials,” I had more time in my day to focus on priorities. I also instantly felt less anxious. It was a joy to be able to focus on those in front of my: my family and my literal neighbors.Wendy Speake didn’t write this book to convince people that social media is dangerous (although there’s plenty else out there that has convinced me that for most of society, that’s more true than not) but rather to provide a guide to focus and fill up the space and time with what is true and what is lovely: on our loving God.This time was a welcome break in limiting my “inputs.” Much of what I interact with online is beautiful, educational/informational, inspirational, funny, or connective with others. But each person or account I follow is a voice that I am allowing to have real estate in my life. We hear so many voices today and there are many positives to this, but we do need to be incredibly discerning who we allow as an authority in our lives. And quiet is not a bad thing. This book has me acknowledging my crutches and brainstorming strategies for re-engaging online in a healthier way. I highly recommend it and with all going on in the world right now, I think that if this sparks interest in you, the timing of taking a guided break and replacing that space with something positive could not be better.

We need this book!!
This book is so needed in our world today. After participating in Wendy's sugar fast, I knew I definitely needed a social media fast as well. I am so guilty of wasting time through "mindless scrolling." In this book, Wendy shares many tips and inspiration for breaking the addiction to social media. While social media definitely has benefits, it can be such a distraction when it is used too much or in the wrong way. This book is a great starting point for learning how to spend more time with God and less time with a screen. I plan on reading this book often to stay reminded and refreshed. I am so thankful to Wendy for writing these life-changing books!

Day 41 Today and Feeling Free and Refreshed
Wow, today is Day 41, and I had no idea I could do this and the blessings on the other side of this 40 Day Social Media Fast! I am an author, speaker, and business coach. When God first called me to this fast, I argued with him that this would be business suicide especially as I am launching and publishing 2 books this year. That if I did this I might as well quit all my jobs because that is where all business and marketing takes place. The complete opposite happened through this social media fast. I have drawn closer to God and learned to crave my time with him in prayer and the word. In addition, I have found and opened more of the gifts God has placed inside of me. I completed a book manuscript and started a podcast which I never knew I had inside of me or would like so much.I think this book is for everyone! However, not everyone will pick this book up because they are so connected to their devices that they are “looking down at social media instead of up at God and those around them” (I used to be one of them). If you want to be “free” and live life “abundantly,” then this book is for YOU! If you are ready to discover and unlock more of your gifts, passions, and life, then this is a MUST READ and MUST DO!

Everyone Needs to Read This
This book is so in tune to this technology generation. Everyone, including teenagers should read this book to see what is ruling their life....their phones.....and how to change some habits to focus on the important things in their life. You'd be surprised how a few small changes can change the direction of your life.

A great challenge for all
This book is just what I needed to lift my head away from my phone and to think deeply about the world around me. I had not realised how much I looked at social media and my phone in general until reading this book. Wendy goes through the 40 days linking God’s word with our lives. She gives many examples that are relatable and make you think about your own actions. Some chapters will be more relevant to you than others, but all give a good grounding for spending time with God and our families, husbands and friends, in a meaningful, all-attention giving way. She also leads into us thinking about what will change when the fast is over. What needs to change? What needs to become a priority? Do you even need to return to all the social media platforms you were on before? That’s for you to work out. A great read, interactive, makes you think and hopefully changes your perspective on what is truly important today.

You will take a new look at the discipline of fasting
This book had me see that it’s not about “giving up” it’s about “looking up” — I was actually shocked the huge distraction that social media has /had on my life — day by day Wendy Speake journeys with you to help you refocus and refix on Him - sooo good - so transparent - so rewarding
