Tori Amos - Little Earthquakes: P/V/G

Finally got this piano book. Learning so much. Item arrived in great condition. No complaints here.

I gave this as a gift to a pianist who is a Tori Amos fan, and she was very happy with it. Even though the book cannot necessarily convey the complexities and nuances of Tori Amos's talent, it seems to do a good job of providing the basics from which a pianist can improvise.

Sometimes I question whether or not Tori Amos is a genius or not, however when i first listened to this album I was blown away by her sense of pure honesty and profound goodness, her words speak to the soul and hang from the heart and her memorable gentle touch is brilliant. She is a wonderful pianist and her lyrics are vivid, intense and often overwhelming although her music never fails to amaze me. I believe my favorite songs on this Cd are Crucify, Girl, Precious things, and Little Earthquakes. Her ability to use her words to blend the truth together has inspired me.

If you like Tori and like to play piano, this book is for you! Some of the songs are pretty hard, but if you really get into them, they will start to dominate your world. Most of the songs are true to the cd versions, with some changes because most of us can't play like Tori. However, you can hear the song you know and love when you play it. Playing the songs helped me understand them on a deeper level. Definitely fun!

These are simple arrangements, not transcriptions. Still, I attempted to replace my older damaged book, but this copy version does not contain color printed pages on nice stock like my old one. It's a black and white printed version on printer paper that is much lower quality than the original version of this book.

Is there a reason why the don't make spiral bound songbooks? I know it doesnt look as nice. But, it seems it would function better that way.

Well, my piano skill is nowhere as good as Tori's but this is an excellent dictation of the songs. Granted (as a previous review stated) some of the improvs are not included...but how could they be? That's what improvs are: spur of the moment!! :) heheh at least with the books you can have a little help in improvizing on your own!! :)<Songs in the book> All tracks from Little Earthquakes, plus Upside Down and Thoughts (two HEAVENLY bsides)

Wer auf simplere Umtata-Musik oder ausschließlich ganz harte Sachen steht, für den ist diese vielschichtige und aufwühlende Platte nicht geeignet; auch ein genauerer Blick auf die Texte lohnt sich, dürfte allerdings manche Leute auch verstören.

Love Tori Amos, but this book is basic to say the least. Very much like general pop books that starts of with piano melodies then follows the vocal like with the bass notes. No where near as in depth as Boys for Pele onwards.Shame...
