Buy Draping: The Complete Course: Second Edition 2 by Kiisel, Karolyn (ISBN: 9781786272317) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Keep them handy - Something to use for immediate emergency but also store for those panicky moments from family and friends in the future. Makes you a hero! Keep mine in a box marked " "For fabrics - First" Aid" Review: Very usable and fun - This is a very detailed and comprehensive book. I’m slowly working my way through it. There are sections on how to drape all the main garments, focussing on the feminine/curvy form only. One amazingly cool thing is the huge number of worked examples: each one begins with a photo of a garment (eg a publicity shot of an actress in a lovely dress), then you get a series of photos and instructions where that EXACT shape is recreated in calico or a relevant material (for lightweight or other interesting fabrics). Not that they use the word “muslin” to describe the fabric which is called “calico” in the UK. I admit I am skipping some bits, and going back as needed, but even given that, I’m already getting some good results; first ever draped bodice block! I have no formal training in dressmaking, so cannot give an expert opinion, but as a home sewer I’m finding it very accessible - if you read carefully and take it at your own pace. I am very happy with the information on how to alter the fit, though I would have perhaps liked more photos of incorrect fits and how to ameliorate them. Next: the Gibson Girl blouse! I highly recommend this book.

Good detailed book
This is a really well written and detailed book, providing step by step guidance for a complete novice. I have a couple of other books on draping but this one filled in the gaps for me.

Better than the others
Recently purchased and not that far along, but I will say it's the best draping book that I own. Maybe even the best pattern book in general. I can see that already. Some things aren't so clear, and picture details are small. The book is rather heavy, so won't be taking it with me anywhere. Overall, good purchase.

High quality
The book is great I hate that it wasn't covered or packaged except for the box it came in (the book cover got dirty)

I have spent a few years learning about fashion design, draping and drafting. I have the books that are supposedly used in fashion design schools, but this one is the best. This book has specific projects that build on themselves, as you become more proficient with the methods and techniques. The author is also a draping teacher. I am 100% self taught and I'm an intuitive visual learner. This book comes with loads of helpful videos to show you the methods and concepts of draping. I have the first edition hard copy, and the updated version digital version. The digital version has links to videos that are very helpful. I plan to get the second book in hard copy (for my sewing studio as a reference) and also the digital version as well.

This book is full of wonderful knowledge and advice. Whether you’re a beginner or advance this book is great because it covers all the fundamental basics in an easy step by step process. It shows images of the fabric draped on the mannequin, along with flat patterns, instructions and tips and tricks. For the price-tag that it is, it’s fantastic.
