Oreimo Blu-ray Box Set

One note for those purchasing is that Aniplex apparently uses the same UPC for the original JP and the US releases of this Blu-ray, so it may be a crap-shoot which one you get. The JP release still has English subtitles (including for all the special features), but the menus and physical liner notes are on Japanese only. (It's not really a problem for navigation.)As you might expect from Aniplex (and for the price), this is a high-quality release with no artifacts or problems at all. Some minor visuals were cleaned up from the streaming release, and the music at lossless is great. The four ONA/OVAs which are difficult to find and aren't available on any streaming platform were great to finally see as well rather than reading descriptions of them.One standout feature of the release are the in-character commentaries for each episode. They're extremely meta (as the characters watching themselves) and occasionally dip even beyond that, such as when "Kirino" (in SD artstyle) interviews Kirino's VA on screen. Quite a treat.

This review is of the product itself and not of the price like some other reviewers here.. I will agree Season 2 is the more epic season causing me to feel emotions I have never felt before watching a show. However, Season 1 is still great and this set has extra important special episodes that I've looked for and cannot find on Crunchyroll or Hulu. Like I know in other anime that extra episodes sometimes are just for fun and don't necessarily add to the main story but most of these extra episodes for Oreimo are actually continuing the story and I am pretty sure if I am remembering correctly that Season 2 starts off after the extra episodes located in this set. So uh yeah 99% of the content is not on Hulu and Crunchyroll like another reviewer said. I wish it was. In fact I'd love to buy or watch the whole series legally with all the extra episodes digitally so I wouldn't have to worry about discs but I have found no such option. To repeat and expand on how most important these extra episodes are for each season, they are at the END of both seasons. Season 2 literally does not have its true ending on Hulu or Crunchyroll currently and while some people may not like its true ending, I do. If people buy enough of this set from legitimate retailers (and I don't think eBay really counts if you're buying it from someone else who has already bought it for themselves) then hopefully we'll eventually see a blu-ray set for Season 2. Though if anybody finds a digital option for buying them preferably in 1080p please let me know as these discs are still expensive though one could argue with a series this good it may be worth $300+.

I bought this specific set because I LOVE anime on blu ray( it's really one of the best things in life) and it's only available in this format. It DOES come with subtitles like it's Aniplex USA counterpart, but their not automatic so you'll have to go to the emu or just hit the subtitles button on your remote like me if you have one... This set comes with 16 episodes total, the last four being an "alternate route" like the hentai games Kyousuke sister enjoys that will ultimately lead to its controversial second season. So watch both season and decide for yourself; and if you’re feeling uneasy like I was after the finale, pick up the Kuroneko manga series to save this story AND your sanity.... Unless you're into "that" sort of thing.

This Blu-ray is really expensive because it is rare and limited. It don't have other alternative US or oversea version for Blu-ray collector.I bought this Anime because its Limited Blu-ray Box. It looks Excellent Good !!!It is always irony that for a collector. You buy it for its content itself or the Limited Box itself? If you are latter one, don’t miss it !Inflat Season one is only 4 stars class. It is not as good s Season Two. (Season Two is 5 Star Class) Season one only about contains 1/3 content of original novel. It lacks the main highlight love story. But if you decide to buy a Seacon Two Blu-ray. Why you refuse to buy a Seaon one !

this is one of my favourite anime of all time, and I wouldn't even pay this price for it. 99% of this content can be found on crunchyroll. honestly, why the hell is this so expensive?

Are you serious? Its not worth spending 200 dollars on some cds. Just watch it on CrunchyRoll or PinoyAime.tv... Yeesh.

いつからだろう、このオタクという言葉。この言葉が流行り始めたころは、まさに世間体をはばかり、胸張って誇らしげに語る人はほとんどいなった。本来オタクは昔からいた。骨董集めや美術品など同じ趣味だ。本アニメは、本人の葛藤から抜け出し、オタクを正面から向き合う話で、この言葉が市民権を得る過程を物語っているようで、とても面白い。

I purchased this show originally from Aniplex of America on DVD a few years back and really enjoyed it. I had heard that the show was getting a Blu Ray release and that this would have English Subtitles, making it an instant pre-order. The audio / video encoding was pretty solid. The packaging was great too! The only downside is the lack of bonus material. Sure, the Character Commentaries are nice - and translated with English subs! - but what about line art or the Creditless Openings or Endings? They are no where to be found but clearly exist. That is the only thing keeping this set from getting 5 stars. Otherwise, it is highly recommended.
