Great lightweight frame lock
Great lightweight frame lock. Easy to use to keep the rear wheel from disappearing. I use it in conjunction with a Abus Bordo.

Peace of mind
This frame lock offers good security for your rear tire. You can lock up the frame and front tire as usual, then lock up the back. Easy...and bike thieves will just look elsewhere for a less complicated transaction.

Still working
My bike isn't stolen yet. Sometimes I just lock this. It's a bit of a pain to put on, but thats the point isn't it?

DISSAPOINTING! (not same as shown in picture!) (*slightly lower quality model)
WHEN I 1st saw this item listed on Amazon, I was THRILLED! An AUTHENTIC quality Dutch Bike Frame lock! (wow)BUT - IT wasn't until, my Frame Lock arrived, that it became APPARENT, that what I actually RECEIVED, and the top-quality authentic PRODUCT SHOWN is a little DIFFERENT? (oh no~) it's from the same company, but a cheaper model...So, unlike the product SHOWN in the MAIN-PHOTO? This particular model doesn't have the popular SPRING device inside, which automatically retracts the deadbolt, when turning the key?THIS model doesn't have the spring, meaning I have to get down and physically, retract the dead-bolt, each & every time! Also, IT doesn't Lock the key into place, when framelock is in un-locked position? - Making it less secure when leaving the keys in the slot, while riding.WHAT a BUMMER!UPDATE: SO, I ended-up installing the Frame-Lock using black Shoe-Goop which worked GREAT! My lock is attached snugly & securely, almost as good as professional! AND, even tho, this is NOT the same LOCK as SHOWN (lower model) It STILL is manufactured from ABUS and is SOLID built of Steel, and it does the Job! And is better than MOST of the locks around!

YOU WILL USE THIS
The great thing about this lock is that it is always on your bike so you will use it every time. Sure it's minimal security but 90 % of bike thefts are casual too. There is a reason EVERY bike in Amsterdam has one on it. Backed up by a narly chain though, it IS Amsterdam.

Extra security for your bike !!!!
These types of locks are hard to find in America and when you do find them, they are often expensive and over priced. These are fairly affordable, although if you are in Europe, you can obviously find them for less. I bought two of these locks: One for an old school, one speed cruiser, and one more my more modern Trek mountain bike (that has slick tires for city biking). The lock fit both of them well with enough clearance. The lock itself is fairly heavy duty and feels solid. If you've ownedone of these before, you might be used to another option with how the key works. The older ones I've had in the past have a key that usually stays in the lock when it's open/unlocked. When you close/lock the lock, then the key comes out. With this lock, the key doesn't stay with the lock. At first this threw me off, but then I just realized to keep the key on my key ring with my other keys. Again, if you don't know the other style of locks that I'm talking about, just disregard this paragraph. Finally, the straps that come with this lock to attach it to your frame I found to be pretty cheap and useless. I just ended up using cable ties/zip ties to attach it to my frame. 8" Plastic Cable Zip Ties 100-Pack (Black) Three on each side (nice and tight) and this thing lock is more than stable. Sure, someone could cut the zip ties, but if you have the lock closed/locked, it doesn't matter as there there is no way to remove it at that point from the bike. Again, use cable ties/zip ties instead. They are more stealth, look better, and work just as well.If you want additional security for your bike, get one of these. There is a reason people use them in major bike cities like Amsterdam and Beijing. If you are afraid of your main bike lock being cut or failing, this is one extra layer to have. The interesting thing is that most bikes in America don't have these types of locks, so you are really one step ahead of everyone for having one. Order some up for yourself and a friend!*constant bike riderPortland, OregonUSA

Designed for frames without mounts
I bought this lock hoping to use it on my wife's 2010 Globe Live mixte bike, which has two mounting screws on the seatstays, designed for a frame lock like this. Unfortunately, the vertical slots are spaced too far apart to work with these built-in mounts, or the mounts on my bike, a Breezer Uptown. (The O-lock that came with my Breezer does fit on her bike as well). Now, looking at the back of the Abus package, I see that this is the "CL" model of the Abus Amparo 495 lock, which is designed to be used with the included huge "zip-tie" like attachments. These work to hold the lock to the seatstays. They could be cut, but when the lock is closed it will still prevent the wheel from turning, which is the function of this lock.If you want to mount this to the braze-ons that came with your frame, you will need the "LH" version, or perhaps the "SP" for a different mounting system. This lock is the one you need if your bike has normal seatstays with no special mounting hardware for locks. The slots on this lock are 90 mm apart and vertical; the "LH" has several horizontal slots which should fit any frame with mounting points for one of these locks. Sadly, it's not sold on Amazon or anywhere in North America that I can tell. The narrowest part of the lock is 65 mm wide, so it should fit tires up to 60 mm (2.3 inches), and the slot for the fender is even wider, about 70 mm. All but the widest fenders and tires should fit (cruiser bikes would the be the one exception). All in all, this lock is a good deal at the current price, compared to more expensive Axa locks, or less durable designed-in-China O-locks that I have seen, and I will be keeping it to use on my bike. I will write again if I discover any problems after further use.

Wrong picture
This is the wrong picture for this product. The Abus Amparo 495 CL does NOT have the four openings on either side! This is crucial information to know prior to purchasing. Those holes allow for additional attachment to the frame using zip-ties which help ensure a snug fit. I was expecting to receive the item pictured and this is not what I received. Seems like a bait and switch to me or at least poor marketing! BOOOOOO!

Works perfectly on almost any bike!
Works perfectly however from time to time it can get a bit stuck nothing that some oil would fix though. Otherwise can't fault this product.
