It does come with a removable piece of black plastic to set music on. It should be big enough to hold any music book, unless it borders on being a novel.

IT IS NOT TOUCH SENSITIVE the following is from the manual: Keyboard Since this keyboard does not have touch response, the level of the sound does not change in response to your playing strength. Therefore, your performance may not sound correctly as in the preset Songs. i purchased this keyboard based on the answers here, however, the correct answer is NO
