This radio kit will cover the AM radio band along with the SW radio band. Power for this receiver is 1.5 V DC for the filaments and 45V DC for the plate current. A D cell and five 9V transistor batteries wired in series will work to power this radio. A 2000 ohm headset or an audio amplifier is required. Requires two T-1T4_DF91 tubes (not included).

Some 'coloring outside of the lines' required
I really enjoyed this kit and have had good performance with it since I assembled it. The instructions are printed a bit darkly and they assume certain things (such as what wire to use when soldering the components together). The instructions also provide actual sized templates for manufacturing the control panel which one has to either copy, or destroy part of the instructions (which are printed on both sides of the pages). This was not my first home-brew radio, so I deviated wildly from the instructions in some areas, assembling it in a wooden case I picked up at a thrift store, and making my own control console in which the dials and labeling are laminated into a lacquer coating. I also made my own battery pack (as there is minimal direction in the instructions on how to do that... Overall a really enjoyable experience for those confident enough to introduce some of their own ingenuity and problem solving to supplement what the instructions are saying to do.

Nice kit
I enjoyed the kit. Not super easy but not super difficult. Gave 4 stars because tubes not included and like other reviews the holes in the boards were not clean. They look busted through like a dull drill bit was used without a scrap board underneath. I scraped them and made my own. Not a huge deal to me.

Disappointed
The coil winding diagrams were very dark and hard to see. The variable tuning capacitor mounting holes were too far forward on the chassis, therefore it overhung and made mounting the front panel correctly difficult. A lot of burrs around the pre-drilled holes.

Good kit!
Good kit!!! All the hard to finds parts are all together in this kit. The 365pF cap alone is $15. By the time you run down all the parts it would cost a lot more in the long run. I agree that it would be nice if it came with tubes, but those can be found on the web. The price of this kit is very fair for what you get.

Not included - The two tubes ( The key components)
This would have probably been a great "DIY KIT" radio if the tubes came with it.. Or were readily available on amazon....Also the wood and piece of pvc seemed to be cut with a dull saw so there are lots of splinters and rough edges etc...For the price i expected better...
