Good price for the set. Much more realistic than using paperclips. I havent figured out yet how to use them for more advanced simulations, but works great for basic visual of DNA/RNA structure, DNA replication, mutations, and some aspects of synthesis. Could probably be used to demo epigenetics too.

I was really excited to be able to purchase this kit for my AP biology students at a much better price than that of the Carolina kit. It's not quite as big, but considering the Carolina kit is for 10 student groups and I only have 4-5 in a given class, this looked perfect. The kit I received contained all parts. However, nearly half of the pop beads in each color are unusable. The quality of the beads is so poor that half of the openings that the beads are supposed to "pop" into are too big. This makes the beads just fall right back out and never pop together. It's hard to even use the kit because my kids spend so much time trying to find beads that will stay together. You can see in the picture I've attached that the bead on the left (which is attached to other beads) as a smaller opening than the bead on the right. I really wanted to love this kit. There are so many uses for it in a biology classroom. However, the fact that only half of the kit is usable makes it a complete waste of my money.

Really helpful in allowing my students to see how DNA Transcription and Translation worked. Added a lab that incorporated DNA mutations and it was an excellent lesson.
