Comparing this Bionaire heater with the DeLonghi HMP1500 Mica Panel Heater
I'm very happy with this heater. I also have a DeLonghi HMP1500 Mica Panel Heater but I like this Bionaire heater better. They both heat well with a very comfortable, non-drying heat, but the DeLonghi unit has a slight hum (more noticeable on high) whereas this one is silent. I also like that the thermostat on this heater seems more effective. I always have to fiddle with the Delonghi to keep the room at the temperature I like, but this Bionaire will maintain a more accurate, constant temperature. Heat from the Bionaire emanates from both side panels and the top. Heat from the Delonghi comes out the top and front panel. The DeLonghi can be mounted on the wall, making it more unobtrusive in the room. They both weigh around 12 pounds and are very easy to move from room to room. They both heat a medium to large room very quickly, but if the room is really cold, I'll turn the unit on high for 15-30 minutes, then drop it down to low and leave it there. Most of the time it heats more than adequately on low making it very economical since I keep the central heat turned down low, and use this heater to keep the room I'm in at a cozy temperature. I've noticed this heater seems to heat the room more quickly, even on low, than the DeLonghi. The only negative I can find with this heater is that it smelled pretty bad the first time I used it, but that's to be expected with any new heater like this and the smell went away after using it a couple days. If you're looking for a safe, quiet heater with a decent thermostat that gives very cozy heat without a fan that can dry out the air, give this one a try. If you like having the option to mount it on the wall to save space, the DeLonghi would be your best bet. If I ever need another one for any reason, I'd definitely buy this one over the DeLonghi because overall, it's a more effective heater.

MICATHERMIC TECHNOLOGY IS AWESOME... Who knew?!
This review is fior model #BMH2905-BUThis was a replacement item for me since the first one seemed to have been damaged during shipping. It was not shipped in an Amazon box but the unit carton.PROS:Heats incredibly fast (immediate space, then expands) and maintains the heat level. It definitely heats large rooms but make sure you close doors to master bath or closets. My master bedroom is 16'x22'Unit is extremely quiet. (will not create white noise if anyone is hoping for that)The legs, wheels and pull are easy to assemble. One note about the handle is... once it's connected it won't come apart. The unit is slim and lightweight.CONS:I don't see the need for them to have designed the unit with heating buttons.Top one is on and low and the lower levels are for higher temps with a dial. The ready indicator light stays on all the time. I was advised by an engineer friend that it won't eat up energy but it's annoying to have it on when not in use.So far it's worked really well. At nearly $100 for this unit, I'm hoping that it will continue to perform annually for at least the life of it's 3yr warranty.

Weak heat
I rarely write negative reviews & was shocked at how disappointing this heater was. It took 6 hours to heat up a small living room (the outside temp was 55 - not that cold). I could only feel the heat sitting 2 feet away from the heater. I thought with it's substantial size, that it could easily heat my small living room. Once it finally got warm, I left the temperature gauge on high, & turned the power down to low. Hours later, I couldn't feel any heat coming out of it & the room was cold. It was very strange. I have a $30 Optimus radiant heater that is 1/3 the size of this, & half the power of this heater - and it gives off stronger heat. This heater takes up a lot of space, & it doesn't heat well. The only thing I can say that is positive about it, is that it is very quiet, which is exactly what I was looking for. But so is my $30 Optimus, which works so much better. Several other reviewers said this exact same thing (about weak heat), I should have listened!

Good if you can fix it yourself.
The heater arrived with one of the mica panels flopping around in the case. The top fastener wasn't in it, so it was unsecured upon arrival. I tried to contact someone, but there wasn't a way to do that. The packing job by the shipper was poorly done and the side of the box was blown out where the heater was resting against it. I decided to tear it apart and fix it myself. It was an easy fix, and it works perfectly now. I would give it a higher rating if the packing job and product quality upon arrival had been better.

Silent and Speedy Heat.
I bought this to replace an aging and malfunctioning oil heater on promises that it was dead silent and heated quickly. On these promises, this heater delivers! The heater sits about three feet from my head in a dedicated stereo room. When I first start the heater up, there are some pings as the heating metallic material expands. However, once the heater has been on for a few minutes, it is indeed silent save for the occasional soft click of the thermostat. On the speed end, one can expect noticeable heat to be flowing within two minutes. There is no 20+ minute wait for heat like there is with those oil heaters.Others have complained that all of the heat goes upward. This is a radiating heater and of course heat rises, so only so much can be reasonably expected. That said, I have found that plenty of heat radiates from the sides of the unit. A small room (12' X 10') can be heated to a pleasantly comfortable temperature, top to bottom, on the low power setting. As others have also reported, there is quite the odor when you first power this heater up. It took about three hours for that to go away. I'd recommend first setting up the heater in the garage and letting it run for a few hours on full blast before moving it to its desired in home location. All in all, if you are looking for a silent heater that warms up swiftly, this will do the trick.
