Got and used my Tamper. Nicely turned and worked quite nicely on 3 quarts of Kraut that I made for the first time. I dont know how it will hold up long term but it is made well and I see no cracks or cause for concern. Hope my grandkids will be able to use it.

The bottom portion split after first use, which consists of three minutes of tamping down some cabbage and a 30-second cleaning. It worked well enough, except a big crack in the bottom makes me worry about how sanitary it will be over time. I'm returning it.

Made out of hard maple. That is a big plus for me. My only gripe and the reason it lost two stars is that it had a hard to get off company label. When I finally got the label off, there was glue residue on cabbage tamper. Now I did not want to use a toxic substance to get the glue off because it will be in contact with food. Instead, I used fine steel wool and that worked perfectly. I hope where I used the steel wool does not discolor over time. I would recommend that the company tie a business card or tag to the product instead of using a glued label.

Solid and very useful! Love the design: a choice of large and smaller ends, and hand-size grip areas in the middle. Perfect for making sauerkraut in quart-size glass jars.

It is a nice piece, smooth finish. It is a bit short for tamping in a crock, but the top is slightly curved and easy to hold.

I really like this and it worked very well for making my kraut! Sturdy and just the right size for me.

This is a nice tamper. I received it quickly and used it immediately to ferment some peppers. Comfortable on the hand and did a great job packing the jar.
