2 years and running great
I purchased an 18000 BTU Cooper & Hunter 2 years ago. I did loads of research prior to my purchase and settled on this unit. Against the manufacturers instructions and with no previous HVAC experience I installed the unit myself. With a cost of about $400 in required tools (and lots of youtube) I was able to install it with no problems. This saved me approximately $1000 for professional installation in my area. For the last 2 years it has worked flawlessly. Fantastic A/C in the summer and comfy heat in the NY winters. After my experience with this unit I am looking to buy another for my upstairs and now I have all the tools and knowhow necessary to install it without any further investment. This is a great unit and a doable home DIY project if you invest the time.

Works perfectly
I've had this running now for about 2 months. No problem with self-installation or instructions. So far, it's been working perfectly for both heat and ac. It is so quiet that it is hard to tell if its running. I would recommend this unit but be aware that it does not have auto swing from left to right as stated in features, but they can be manually positioned. I also don't believe it has the follow me feature as well, but I don't see the need for it. At this point I have no regrets with this unit and hope to get many years of use.

Cheap copper, Awful warranty, Horrible customer service - expect to pay
Cooper and Hunter's warranty program is deceitful, dishonest, and wrong. After less than a year of having their ductless unit, the copper line set burst open with a 2-inch cut. Our trusted and reliable local HVAC company, said they had never seen such a flimsy, cheap copper line used on a line set. After spending $3,000 in repairs for new freon, leak tests, service calls, and now a replacement copper line set, Cooper and Hunter refuses to pay me for any warranty repairs. They claim the copper line set is an accessory, not a part and will not pay for the repair. In legal terms, a part is an essential component required for the equipment's operation. An accessory is an optional addition for the machine that is not vital to it's function. This HVAC unit cannot function without it's line set, making Cooper and Hunter's classification misleading and unfair. This is a deceptive and deliberate move by C&H to avoid responsibility for a failed part on their unit with less than a year of use. After reading other reviews online, it sounds like anyone that runs into trouble with this company faces many difficult challenges getting any warranty coverage. I have receipts for 4 separate service calls to HVAC companies and while I know they won't cover the freon or assessment fees from the HVAC workers, the very least they could do is pay for the repair of their failed, cheaply made PART they use in their systems. Their refusal to stand behind their product in this instance raises serious concerns about their commitment to customer satisfaction and the reliability of their equipment. You've been warned! Don't buy this cheap crap, their warranty is a joke and they'll do everything they can to not help you. Expect to pay for service calls, leak checks, and most expensive of all, more freon. None of which is covered by Cooper and Hunter. Thieves!

Great Mini Split HVAC system
Super quiet. Keeps temperatures comfortable. You hardly notice it running.

Mini-Split HVAC
Unit is working adequately and we are pleased. What Im not so happy about is that it advertised it was pre-charged with freon and it wasn't. I had to go buy freon and charge it myself. It was not too difficult to install but did take me about half of a day.

Easy for a DIY install, if you have the right tools and knowledge
The box includes everything that you need for a DIY install, but you also need some hand tools and knowledge. The warranty is no good if you do it yourself. You can acquire the knowledge by watching some videos on the subject. You can acquire the tools right here on Amazon. My 18000 BTU heat pump works perfectly. Will update in the future. Update: October 18, 2023... Working perfectly. Quiet and energy efficient. Looking forward to a winter with cheap heat (here in upstate New York.) Update: April 26, 2024.... Still working perfectly... Winter heat was plentiful and total electric usage was less than last year by about 15 percent. Looking forward to a nicely airconditioned summer.

I would have given 5 stars but......
The reason I did not give a 5 star rating is as simply I have not needed to run this unit at length yet. I did test it and it ran great so if possible, I will adjust my rating accordingly after I have a chance to run it for a while. That said, I did quit a bit of research prior to choosing C&H. I live in Arizona and needed to cool a room not attached to the main house. Cooper & Hunter is a Florida based company and has very warm summers coupled with high humidity. Logic told me that their equipment should be able to handle AZ climate adequately. If you don't know C&H are not manufacturers, but they choose a well known manufacturer to build their equipment to their requirements. In the mini split world most equipment is made by only a few manufacturers in China. The equipment it's self is well made and package. For those looking for a mini split you can self install ,I'm only aware of one company marketing a true DIY machine that comes with precharged lines, this isn't it. The warranty requires a licensed HVAC tech to install it pressure check and vacuum down the lines before releasing the 410a into the system. That said, the cost of having a professional come do it was near the cost of replacing the unit. I was able to purchase the necessary items to complete the install myself for much less, just a couple hundred dollars. Given that I have plans to install a couple more units in the near future this was worth the investment for me. Also, since warranties typically only pay for the part and your on the hook for the labor it may be a moot point. There are plenty of resources available online ( YouTube ) for most mechanically inclined people to complete the install but for all others go for the pro or research the DYI option......... Update I've had the opportunity to use this at length all ( very hot and surprisingly humid ) summer. I have upped the stars to 5, this unit has been a champ !
