A di Alessi Parmenide Cheese Grater, Red

This cheese grater is in two world class museums as an example of excellent design and good art combined. In your own kitchen, it takes a little focused work to get the grater out of its slot. The trick is to lift one corner as if you were peeling it off, working from the smaller opening, what appears to be the top of the item in the picture. It's a great way to bring Parmesan or any other hard cheese to the table to grate neatly and deliver exactly the amount you want as a topping. Great gift.

This may not be practical for cooking (best to have your typical multi-sided grater in the kitchen), but it's perfect for the kitchen table. I grate parmegiano-reggiano into the cellar and leave it out during dinner, then throw plastic wrap over the remainder and refrigerate it in the container. That way it's ready for leftovers the next day, as well.This has a fine grate that gives out half-inch long strands of cheese, so the harder the cheese you use, the better. When I first got the grater, I had a hard time getting the metal grate apart from the cellar, but it loosened a bit after that and now easily goes in and out. I've used it several times and run it through the dishwasher with no problems.This is also a great price for an Alessi item, which is known for their finesse and fun in the world of design.

Practical and well designed. Gorgeous deep red color. Sharp blades. Wipe clean after washing to prevent rusting. Store parmesan shreds and block together inside the container and keep in fridge. This is a fridge to table item, so highly functional!

Love it

This is a replacement of our 20 year old model. It is efficiently designed for optimal cheese grating, storage and serving. Dishwasher safe and durable. Our old model has finally developed a small crack along one side grater track, but still works fine. Just wanted to make sure I had a replacement if the crack grows,

I own one of these and love the look and design of this grater, it's easy to use, too. Ordered it for a birthday gift for my brother-in-law, who's a good cook. He loves it, too, comments that it's especially good for grating parmesan.

works great fun to use and efficiant

Wanted this grater for years. I have another but love the look of this one and the ease of grating. Coveted one my friend purchased in Italy. Finally decided to track one down for my own.

Love it, it took me a while before purchasing it. It will be a plus in my table. I love Alessi products, always great design and great quality.

Nice and functional. Only problem is getting the metal grater back on plastic holder when you clean it.

Nice small cheese grater easy to hold in your hand.Will be very practical. It look so nice and put some colour, I will have it around often eliminates the need for the big cheese grader

My grater arrived yesterday, just in time to trial it at dinner time. It was a bit fiddly to separate the parts the first time I used it to wash it etc. but once I had got the hang of it, no problem whatsoever.It grated my Parmesan perfectly, with no mess and both hubby and I enjoyed sprinkling it all over our dinner directly from the grater. Its like a holder for your cheese as well as a grater, so to me its multi-functional.It looks good, especially pretty sat on the dinner table. Alessi quality and design, well worth every penny. I love it.HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

This sits comfortably in the hand while you grate the parmesan. The cheese stays in the grater and is easily decanted into a container or onto food. Having tried many other parmesan graters I can say this one works better than others I have tried. There is a little flattened area on the bottom of the grater so that it can stand without falling over and spilling the grated cheese. A clever design
