I purchase a couple of these to replace some older USB 2 enclosures and so far they are working very well. The metal top cover appears to dissipate heat better than the old plastic ones I had but I found the sleep function a bit of a nuisance. Fortunately the UGREEN web site has an application that allows the sleep function to be disabled so happy days. The bottom part of the enclosure has little rubber pads on it which stop the enclosed sliding around on my glass topped desk, very handy feature. I have an SSD in one and a hybrid drive in the other and I am sure the data transfer with them is a fair bit quicker than the old USB 2 enclosures but I am unable to guarantee that as I have not performed a speed test comparison. If you are looking for a good quality enclosure I can definitely recommend this one .

Installation was tool free, you slide the back off, install your hard drive and place the casing back. Super easy! The build quality is excellent and the USB C cable included is great quality too. I bought this enclosure as it was cheaper to buy the SSD separately with this enclosure, plus if I need to upgrade I can just install a larger SSD and use the current one in my PC. I recommend this enclosure highly if you’re looking to put together your own external SSD/HDD!

Needed this caddy to extract data from a legacy hard-drive. Works as intended. Perfect.

Update: just been feeling and tapping the top 'Aluminum Alloy' but it just feels and sounds like plastic... Also it's hard to remove the drive once in, there's no finger space, so it's best for permanently holding a drive than a hot swap enclosure. It feels high quality, has rubber feet on the bottom, and a small but not distracting activity light. I have a few cheap enclosures where Windows sees SSDs as HDDs; and tries to defrag them which can shorten their life. Luckily this adapter correctly advertises the type of drive to Windows so no issues. Only 4 starts due to the plastic on the bottom, would have been nice to be all metal on the outside. The plastic is covered in a smooth matt plastic, which has a tendency to go sticky and scrape off after a few years. It also picks up greasy marks show up quickly.

Looks and feels good quality. Really straightforward to set up and use. No negatives. It came with one usb C to C cable, I found that I also required usb A to C cable for different computer - so double check which you require.

A nice looking enclosure that just works! Just insert the drive, plug it into the computer and away you go!

First this has nothing to do with the quality of the enclosure or the speed, they are both excellent. The colour is nice and matches my MacBook Pro perfectly and the material is nice to the touch. Kudos to the factory that makes the physical parts. The electronics, however, makes me sad. Although the product worked fine initially after leaving it in a drawer for about a month it just stopped working. The LED works, but the device isn’t recognised at all. I tested on two separate computers with no luck. I thought it might be a faulty cable so I tried with other cables but alas, no luck there either. If I had to guess, the controller chip is just dead. I saw several similar products on Amazon with identical problems. Although they came from different companies, those chips are usually sourced from the same factory and then just embedded into different designs. My guess is that there’s either some fault in the manufacturing process and nobody noticed, or they hoped they can move these before people start noticing they are failing. I would recommend you stay away from this and all similar products and buy an older but more reliable enclosure. The USB-c connector isn’t worth the chance of this failing when you most need it.

Great enclosure. Solid and works well. Used this for a Samsung SSD drive. Installed the drive and my own back up software on the drive. No issues.

Ben SSD ve Mac Mini M2 ile 530 MB/saniye hızlarını aldım. Bu demek oluyor ki içinden çıkan kablo gerçekten 10 Gb/s hıza sahip. SSD'nin cihaza bağlandığı SATA 3 arayüzü ise 6 Gb/s hızla sınırlı olduğu için zaten 500-550 MB/s'i aşmamız fiziken mümkün değil. Fakat kullanılan Type-C kablosu 5 GB/s olsaydı muhtemelen transfer hızları 400-450 MB/s ile sınırlı kalırdı. 10Gb/s kablo kullanılmış olması 6 Gb/s 'lik SATA 3 limitine ulaşmanızı yani reelde 500 MB/s hızları aşmanızı sağlıyor. Malzeme kalitesi ise çok iyi. Gri kısmın gerçekte aluminyum olmadığını yazanlar olmuş.. Ama kesinlikle alüminyum. Üzerindeki dokulu kaplaması kafa karıştırabilir ama dokunduğunuzda soğukluğunu hissediyorsunuz zaten. Tıpkı alüminyum gibi elinizin ısısını emiyor. Fakat bu alüminyum SSD veya HDD ile direk temas halinde olmadığı için ısı dağıtımında ne kadar etki eder bilmem. İç kısım tamamen plastik ve bu aluminyum o plastiğin üzerinde kılıf gibi giydirilmiş halde. Daha çok dekoratif düşünülmüş. İçinden çıkan 50 cm kablo uzunluğu da yeterli. Ne çok kısa ne de çok uzun.
