Little bit bigger then I expected but I did test fire into a pool of water. Worked fine. It'll go into a dry bag keep it separated from other things radio etc. I have a inflatable with motor. I keep my wallet keys phone in separate dry bags inside a bigger one. I never keep things that can fire loaded and always put in separate dry bags. Nothing like needing Search and rescue from a accidental brain fart.

This company shipped my order in a couple days and I'm satisfied with them and the product. But this flare launcher has gone way up in price. I used to buy at Walmart for $40 but now I can't find them under $70. (Walmart is always out of stock) Found a couple web site advertising this for $50 - but those both turned out to be scams. This is a great item for boaters, hunters and campers.

A friend of mine recommended this as an option for self-defense in the home for kids. It's illegal to have kids having access to actual firearms in the house for clear safety reasons but what if somebody tries to break in when the parents aren't home? This flare gun is apparently strong enough to force stop someone entering and give the children time to escape if they had to defend themselves from an intruder. Or perhaps for a woman who doesn't want to learn how to shoot an actual gun, this is an alternative self-defense option. I'm not recommending teaching this technique as a child or woman unless you know the full scope of what that means wholistically. Of course fire is a death hazard in itself and working fire extinguishers should always be in the home regardless. But if you're not trained yourself and decided to choose this option with some training or assistance I don't think you would be worse off for it and might give safety and security preparedness to family. There are many groups that can teach preparedness and gum safety and the local gun range or military trained or self-defense outreach classes or organizations would be helpful In the house or if stranded in the wilderness and waiting for rescue. This product is a potential lifesaver for much more than what the package markets the product for. Inexpensive alternative to buy and then pray you never need it.

If ever called upon during trying times, you'll be glad you have this item!! Lightweight and visible, its easily found at dusk. I do recommend you acquire several cartridge packs ( 4 per packet ) as they are light, and well, you just never know!! Worth the price.
