I waited for this one. Sure glad Liscom got it written
One damned fine read. Spoiler alert. This one starts with Jason Sterling in the throes of a nightmare. A nightmare where he dies. Of course being a nightmare he's very much alive thanks to his wife Jill. Jason and Jill Sterling live on the ranch that his father Jack left him. They have cattle, horses, electricity, HAM radios food and fuel. Jack Sterling also left journals.Jason's brother Braden made it to the ranch from across the country and it took him ten months. He had to sneak, find supplies and keep his wife and kids alive. He doesn't think he did anything great but he sure did. Braden will fit in well at the ranch. Braden has the journals and has been reading what his father left the two brothers. He feels there is one more journal and will do his best to find it.Those at the ranch are close knit and have survived the EMP that struck sending the US back to the 1800's. Dan Hawkins, Jeff Owens, Jake Fields Doc Williams and his daughter Samantha and Jill''s brother Dale make up the ream at the ranch. They also have teams of young people who patrol and keep things safe. Major Dennis Jackson is their liason with the Army. A new team is about to graduate and on of them is a young lady they will want to have stay at he ranch. Melissa Lange is her name and she will play an important part in the story. There has been a group Jackson called a ghost group that have been in the area. Jackson hasn't been able to catch up with them and this has everyone worried. Several small towns have been destroyed and many people have been killed. No one knows who destroyed the towns though Jackson thinks the ghost group might have something to do with it.The city of Elko is doing well and Mayor Calvert is a good friend to the ranch. He doesn't know it yet but he will surrender his city just as Jason will surrender the ranch to a man named Ray Judge who has tanks, Blackhawk's and is the man who has destroyed cities and murdered as many as he can. He's also insane. Surrendering saved everyone's life which was what Jason had in mind. No way could they stand against tanks and Blackhawk's.Jason will have Jill and Melissa change places. Jason and Melissa who will pose as Jill will leave the ranch in the custody of Judge. Jill and those with her will deal with those Judge leaves on the ranch. They begin to strip everything from the ranch and Jill finds out that most of the men left are conscripts who don't like doing what they are forced to do. There are those loyal to Judge who are called enforcers. These are the men that Jill and those will her will have to take down to free both the Ranch and Elko.So begins one damned fine read. This one has Jason, Jill, Braden, a Braden who comes into his own, Melissa, the trip the Vegas where Judge will turn in Jason and Melissa for gold, a Vegas run by a woman, a woman who turns out to be far more than anyone supposed, a Jason and Melissa who escape and head for Vegas, a Jill and team who take over the ranch, a Jill who heads out on horseback with Dan to find Jason, a Jason who makes his way toward Vegas and slits up with Melissa, a Melissa who is far more than she appears to be, a faint pulled off by Braden, a man named Paul Wesson, a plot by Jason to free Vegas, the ghost riders, a Jill who finally meets up with Jason and Jason Sterling and those with him doing their best to save who they can, survive and stay alive. A Jason who will get on big surprise.Five Stars.

Many Twists and Turns
This is a terribly interesting series, more so than the average formula survival stuff. This writer knows his hardware and tactics. By the way, Dan Wesson is far superior to Sig Sauer in 1911s. I really want one of those Chey Tacs also but $11,000 and $15/round is out of my league. The character development is very good and though the usual semi-immortal bad guys are still in the picture they are at least believable. Just wish my Dad had prepped this well.

Good light read but skip last book
FUN READ but in this day the millennial authors just have to make strong female characters with power and males bumbling oafs who blush. Jill the strong female head of security has no idea what security is or how it performs she even gets stabed with her own knife cause she wants to punch out a guy 100 over her weight. Has a flashlight with only a clear lense for night reading. They hide laws rockets when helicopters are approaching even stick a guy in a tower w/o one only a radio? Sne and her counterpart have no clue but insist on being head boss. How many times must they run to security office before they figure that one out. One thing that really ticks me off. He turns insultingly down a offer to sleep with a woman sheriff who disrobed, who saved his life and cared protected him and when embarrassed th next morning not looking him in the eyes. HE ALMOST FELT SORRY FOR HER. Tney had enough weapons to stop an army.. Afghan people stopped two nations with less...They time after time fail in n eir leadership run off cause they want to...Then they're bought off with 200 lbs of coffee beans cause the drug cartel told them they were now nice people..

Head on out to the ranch
I have enjoyed reading this book and the first of the series as we!!. I look forward to following the story to it's conclusion. Hopefully it ends well. I have an addiction to series stories and have been pleased with beginnings but disappointed with endings. In alot of cases it seems the author has lost interest in the story line and just rushes to get on to something else. Hopefully this series won't succumb to the same ailment. Please, please keep the story lime on point to it's end. The ranch is one of the better, far better stories I have encountered available to kindle.

a lot of great story for the $
This is not a short series which is great. It is great because even though it is long there is a lot going on the whole time instead of just filler things. Overall I have enjoyed both books and will be buying the 3rd.We all kind of knew where the book would go based on the foreshadowing so it was a good relief to see it happen.

Best of the post-apocalyptic genre in recent times!
The story begun in Book 1 of this series and continued in this second installment, shares quality of plot, richness of characters and readability with Stephen King’s “The Stand”. The story is, however, interwoven with more “real-life” possibilities and is less steeped in the fantasy/horror/supernatural realm. O.K., some literary license must, as a practical matter, be indulged in stories which reach substantially out into an exploration of “what if?” And end -of- the- world- as- we- know- it fiction. But this story reflects so many real or nearly-real present-day circumstances and touches upon actual science, politics, and sociological realities that it requires minimal “stretch” to consider that much of what the story is built upon doesn’t seem so very far-fetched at all!! Don’t miss this thoroughly engrossing story. . .Though tense and sometimes, nerve-wracking, it captures the reader’s attention in ways which make it hard to put these books down.

Well Constructed story
Melissa drug him into the....No Melissa didnt drug anyone into the.Melissa dragged/pulled/heaved/ him into the...DRUGnouna medicine or other substance which has a physiological effect when ingested or otherwise introduced into the body.verbadminister a drug to (someone) in order to induce stupor or insensibility."they were drugged to keep them quiet"That being said, (yeah I can be a nobber lol) these books really are quite good. Definitely page turners and the characters are interesting. Jack Sterlings story is interesting but developed too quickly. You will see what I mean. All in all a good read.

Excellent read
A great story with brilliant twists and turns. Wonderful characters too. Very enjoyable.Only thing I didn't like was the use of the word "drug" when it should have been "dragged" the passed tense of "drag". Just another of those weird Americanisms you guys have. Other than that, great!

Excellent follow on to book 1
Yet again Sean Liscom has produced a great well written follow on to book one. I was captivated from the first word, and at the end enjoyed the conclusion but still want more, hopefully a third book is coming.

The ranch b2
Another cracking read that made a change from the Prepper apocalyptic books on the market. But whomever electronically typed this needs a good talking to about missing words and misspelling
