JW Pet Company GripSoft Flea Comb for Dogs

I have been using a JW Pet Co flea comb for 12+ yrs and wanted to buy another one for another pup.The good and the less than good:The good:... the tines/teeth are similar: good length, close enough together to capture fleas... the handle is "fat" and the most comfortable handle of any flea comb I have used*** The less than good:... the part of the comb that the teeth are attached to are a much darker gray color than they were years ago and it is much more difficult to see the fleas. When I used this new comb, by the time I could see the flea in the teeth, it had jumped out. JW, I appeal to you to go back to the light gray comb, if not white.Because of the JW change, I have purchased another brand of flea comb that now outperforms the JW comb:The "Pixikko Pet Flea Comb - Extra Fine":The teeth are as close if not closer (good);the teeth are longer (even better); and*** the teeth are attached to a white comb.The Pixikko flea comb does not have the same ergonomic handle that the JW flea comb does but what benefit is it if one cannot easily see the fleas combed up. After more than a decade with a JW flea comb, I switched to the Pixikko.10/15/2020 - Update: Pixikko comb is discontinued. But -- it appears that the Pixikko comb is manufactured by (who knows) and other companies here on AMZ are selling it as their own . . .The ones that are not black are H&H Pets Flea Comb, Aoche Pet Comb, Laiannwell . . .I haven't purchased all those brands but you can see they look identical except for color.The handle is not as nice as JW Pet nor does the quality seem to be as good but the tines are as close together as JW's and even longer.I am buying another flea comb for another pup that has been rescued.Still, the only reason I continue to buy another brand is that the JW comb is so dark by the tines that it makes seeing the caught fleas difficult. It's so frustrating to capture a flea, only to have it jump off the comb before I can properly see it and catch it.I have seen similar comments on other dark flea combs so I am not the only one who would buy a lighter colored comb...JW I will buy your comb again if you will please change the color.

I didn't buy this from Amazon. I have a Golden retreiver and used it for about a year and a half before a large section of teeth fell out. The look and feel was just what what I was looking for. I think my problem was using it to comb out the dogs coat. I probably should have brushed out the coat first removed the tangles with a larger comb and finished with the flea comb. I still have the large comb and the brush. I don't know if I will buy the matching flea comb as I am still thinking about it. All three of the items look just like the picture. if yours does not, send them back.Follow up: In January 2012 I bought another one from Amazon to replace the one I broke, because I liked it. The one I received is not the same as the one I had that is showen in the picture. I don't like the new YELLOW handle and think the picture should show the new comb and not the old one.

I've ordered this comb several times n retuned them just because the picture isn't anyway like the item I have received, but finally I've accepted this last one, even tho the picture is very WRONG.The comb you get is:yellow with an outline of black but the handle design isn't in anyway or form like what I have gotten n finally have kept.The comb happens to be the best in regard to having fine teeth n none of my other do...but I wish it did have that curved handle n it was or would be better. The fat handle isn't much for comfort but I tolerate the comb because of it's teeth. Wish the company would change it's comb to what looks like it would be better n easier to hold n smaller for fingers that aren't a mans size.

There isn't much you can say about a flea comb... It does the job it was meant to do, it seems to be of good quality metal, it's easy to hold, and it works well on my little dog which has medium length silky type hair. Bathe your dog in Dawn dishwashing liquid (recommended by my groomer, but not to do often as it will dry their skin), then use the flea comb. After using the Dawn, the fleas began scrambling around, then I used the comb, and it really seemed to be a good pairing. If you use the Dawn, be sure and do it outside (and/or have a bucket of warm soapy water beside you to put the fleas into as you get them off your dog, because Dawn helps you get them off, but doesn't kill them). I recommend this flea comb.

I have several of these. They are perfect for getting through a double coat and very comfortable on my crippled hands. Thick enough for my hands to hold. Love the handle.

I bought two of these flea combs and they sure get the fleas. It has a nice handle, the edges of the tines are not too sharp, so as not to scratch the gang. I use the comb to remove fleas from my dogs and cats and they stick to the tines and I then put them into a bowl of soapy water to kill them. The dogs nor the cats seemed to mind my using this on them, so I rate this item pretty highly.

It worked perfect for finding and removing those pesky fleas on my cat. I have my bucket of hot soapy water ready, I comb it through the fur and dip it in the hot water. Wipe it dry and do it again. My cats enjoy the combing and the attention.

Works! My flea collar wearing inside dog produces 2-5 bodies every time I use it, supporting the claims of my old veterinarian that ALL dogs have fleas, and if they don't today, they will by next week (since fleas live forever and lurk in fabric, grass, and other course the hair of other animals just waiting for your dog to walk by). Only downside is the dog absolutely loathes it.

Way better than expected, and I have a thick border collie.
