Paper Mario: The Origami King (Nintendo Switch)

This game was a Christmas present and I've been enjoying with my children and husband, we all sit together and voice the characters. It's fun, bright and colourful though at times it can be a little sad which I don't remember of any of the other paper Mario games. Some of the combat can be very easy at first but not like that all the way through, and there is plenty to do and explore which is great. Olivia is the best partner ever! I usually find Mario's partners a little annoying but Olivia is fun and excitable and cute! Thousand year door for GameCube was always my favourite, followed by colour splash for Wii u, I've not played N64 original and the Wii one was a bit dull! But this one just edqes to top spot for being so vivid and interesting! Also love the nod to Legend of Zelda that happens in a part of the game!

Great little game new to paper mario I was on the fence about purchasing this at first due to bad reviews. I decided to give it a go and glad I did its great for all ages not too taxing great for casual gamers like myself. So I'd say give it a go the battles are a little annoying at times but it still doesn't ruin the game at all. I like it would recommend it for all.

This has been one of the most enjoyable games that I have played in a long time. Right now there are 4 files being played concurrently in our house, 7 y/o, 9 y/o, 12 y/o and a 40+ y/o. The entire game is so charming and whimsical. It is a constant treasure hunt. There have been complaints about the combat, but it fits so well, as it is so puzzle based that at no point did the combat feel like a burden. Each of the boss battles have been interesting and unique, and they have actually been a challenge. One of the most impressive things about this game, that I wish more games would incorporate is a smart difficulty scale. So as an example there was one of those 9x9 grid puzzles which I can never do, there is an option to get a hint, or to have the puzzle complete. On another puzzle, after failing 2 times, some of the extra options were removed, and in another instance, the correct options were highlighted a different colour. Further you can get hints and help for any of the battles. And unlike most of every other assist character Olivia actually gives interesting and funny tips for where to go next. I have actually laughed out loud at a lot of the dialogue. This should be seen as a puzzle based adventure, and not really a true RPG in the sense that people harking back to the 1,000 year door would. This game is a perfect escape from all the stress in the real world, and it also happens to be the perfect length (15 - 20 hours I reckon).

Amazing game, but the battle system feels off .

Fantastic story driven Mario title, really funny and heart warming in places, it also has fantastic graphics and great music, with shredding guitars and violins. I'm about 10 hours in and still really enjoying it. As there is a lot of reading I would suggest this for older Mario fans or kids 10 and up

Absolutely stunning game. This is the best story mode game I've ever played and actually finished. I have had many many hours of gameplay, now sad it's come to an end. I highly recommend this game.

Superb again, at least as good as Thousand Year Door (which is still a brilliant game). The humour in it’s brilliant too, some really Dad jokes. I just saved a Toad from a flower box (who appeared as a flower) and he said “I bloom myself” (Tobias from Arrested Development😂).

I bought this video game as a birthday present for my husband, and it was already on his wishlist — so it was a guaranteed hit! He’s absolutely thrilled with it, and I have to say, watching him enjoy it so much makes it worth every penny. The graphics, gameplay, and overall quality are fantastic.
