These are some bass heavy 5" monitors - and that might be exactly what you want!
I got these monitors for my desk. I have another set of 5" monitors from another brand. Those monitors are very neutral sounding. These Mackie monitors? They are definitely more EQ'd and that's not a bad thing at all! If you're into bass heavy music like pop, hip hop, electronic music, etc then these babies sound absolutely incredibly for 5" drivers. They sound as big as 8" drivers to me! And I used to run a recording studio when I was younger, so I would know. I've been using studio monitors for years and I am seriously impressed with the bass on these 5" monitors. So good. At first, they sounded a little muddy in the mids or highs to me. But I've gotten used to the way they sound now. They no longer sound muddy now that I've gotten my ears tuned to them.If you hate bass, these are not for you. Buy something else.

Great speakers but do your research
If you aren’t familiar with the studio speaker world well you have come to the right place. These speakers sound great and are very loud for the price, I personally bought the 5 inch studio speakers and 8 inch subwoofer by mackie and let me tell you the bass made the house shake like we were at a rave. Do your own personal research on the product before buying it helped me a lot in the setup process. Overall setup took 20-30 mins to put together its very plug and play but you have to know a couple little things about placement to make them sound the way they are supposed to. I would recommend to anyone trying to cop a good set of speakers to bump too for any indoor occasions.

Flush your money down the toilet… buy speakers that stop working 8 weeks in.
Worst, cheapest garbage I have ever purchased on Amazon. After less than 5 hours of play at talking volume, these “made in china” hunks of rubbish started spewing loud static non-stop every time I turned them on. The next morning, they stopped working all together. Reached out to Mackie for help…. but they only offer phone customer service between 9Am and 3pm (you know, when normal people have jobs to go to).If you are smart, spend a little extra and go with a brand that cares about producing speakers than actually work and offer any kind of proper customer service.

Excellent sound but some weaknesses
Bought the 5" version of these speakers to replace Klipsch 2.1 computer speakers that had failed after about six years of use. The sound, clarity, and stereo imaging are excellent for speech and for most music and videos that I listen to on my desk computer (substantially better than the Klipsch 2.1 system), and I found that I do not miss the frequencies below about 70 Hz except for some rare times, so I strongly recommend these speakers as computer speakers. The Bluetooth connection works well and I get excellent sound quality when transmitting say Spotify music from my Android phone directly to these speakers (although I mainly use these speakers connected to the motherboard of my desktop computer with the RCA plug that came with the speakers). There is zero hiss, these speakers are completely quiet even with the volume turned up all the way (in the absence of playing any sound on my computer) and when connected to my computer with the RCA plug that came in the box .Three things to be aware of:1. The 5" speakers are big in size and take up a lot of space on a desk, took some getting used to.2. The written instructions that come in the box about how to use Bluetooth are wrong and incomplete, they say that one just pushes and releases the "Running Man" icon/button to turn on Bluetooth handshaking but this doesn't work. Instead, one has to press and hold this button for 3-5 seconds until the icon is blinking and then release right away. I had to talk with Mackie customer service to find out what to do, the correct instructions are given on this Mackie video: https://loudaudio.netx.net/portals/loud-public/#asset/333013. A more serious and annoying problem is that, about one out of every 6-8 times, when I turn on the speakers using the volume knob, the speakers do not power up. But if I turn off and then on the speakers again with the knob, they do power up so the volume knob is not reliable. After browsing through other comments left on Amazon, I did see that other people have reported this same problem. I talked with Mackie customer support and the technical person I talked to said this was a known problem but it was rare for the problem to occur as frequently as I saw it. (But if this is a known problem, why hasn't Mackie fixed it?!!) The technical person suggested replacing the speakers so I am returning my current speakers and Amazon will send me a replacement as an exchange. To conclude: great sound for the money so recommended, but the volume knob may be unreliable for turning the speakers on and off. Mackey customer support is excellent and helpful (they responded within a day of my emails) but am surprised that Mackey is selling speakers with a known problem regarding the volume control.
