Excellent book for raku enthusiasts
Fantastic book that quickly became a rarity! I'm glad to have snatched it at the publisher's price. Very useful instructions of all kinds, hands-on advice, overall excellent.

Best Guide to Raku
This is the best Raku book I’ve read so far. Mr. Branfman offers a lot of very thoughtful experience in this practical guide. I appreciated the many tips on how to prevent problems and also appreciated the safety aspect of the art. The book is well-illustrated. He very clearly articulates ways to get a more even firing and prevent thermal shock during heating. He also acknowledges that Raku can be as much an individual project as it is a group event. Saggar firing and smoking were very clearly outlined. Don't expect a lot of depth on fuming, which is probably best left to classroom instruction anyway given the hazards involved. Overall, this book is a model for how to write about ceramic arts.

Mastering raku
Belle foto.

Great into to Raku
Great intro to raku with lots of photos. I gave this to a friend who is about to take her first raku course and she was definitely excited.

Something for Every Skill Level
Just received this book today.I'm a fairly experienced potter who's been doing single-fired American raku for a couple of years now. I wanted to take it up a notch and expand my techniques - both in typical and alternative firing methods. This book has great general information for the raku novice, but also TONS of info for more experienced people.Glaze recipes, kiln plans, discussion of basic kiln-to-reduction-container methods and also good, concise info on salt, vapor, saggar and other techniques. And not one of those books that assumes we all have access to university labs, well-stocked suppliers and unlimited funds. Can't wait to get started. Guess I'm making test tiles tomorrow...
